New Lahman Database is out, but...
...I just tried to do add a Historical Major League and got the generic "Historical League Import Failed" message.
Does anyone know how to get this to work? Kenny V |

It does not work on porpoise as their are many OOTP add ons to the Lahman that are not available. Look at the format of the "Lahman" files in your Stats folder and you will see a great many format alterations. To import the OOTP version of Lahman 5.9 you will need OOTP13.

Hi Spritze,
I'm confused. I notice one or two files are either missing or renamed something else (in comparison to the previous version of the Lahman database.) Or do you mean the layout of the data within each .CSV file has radically change so OOTP11 can't interpret them? BTW, when I do the import and after I get the error, league structure comes over (I.E. divisions, teams, etc.) but no players. Does this mean owners of OOTP11 who want to create an Historical league using 2011 MLB Stats are SOL? Kenny V UPDATE: I just did a successful import of 2010 stats using the new database in OOTP12. But got an error trying to do a 2011 import. But OOTP11 fails on both 2011 and 2010. This is becoming dis-heartening. Last edited by KennyV17; 02-07-2012 at 05:18 PM. Reason: Provided update |

The layout in most of the Lahman CSV files has been changed by OOTP not Sean Lahman. Much has been added.
One of the few that has not been changed is the Teams.csv file. Hence the results you are seeing.

Thanks Spritze.
I'm willing to use OOTP12. But I don't understand why it can import the 2010 stats using this database with no problem but not the 2011 stats. I mean all the stats are laid out the same in the database. If it pulls in 2010 stats, it should be able to pull in 2011 stats shouldn't it? (Sorry for the multiple questions. I'm technically savvy but these databases and how they are utilized goes way over my head. )Kenny V |

Versions of OOTP can only import up to what was the previously completed season that existed when they were released. So it takes OOTP13 to use 2011 baseball data. 2010 works with OOTP12. 2011 does not.

Well that's odd. We used OOTP9 using the 2008 and 2009 stats and OOTP11 using the 2010 season stats. I just assumed we could get another season out of it. This is very disappointing. This means our league will be delayed several months.
