To explain how it determines when the player retires how the database works may be needed.

The historicaldatabase.odb is the .csv compiled specifically for use with OOTP. It's essentially the same as the .csv files but makes importing faster.

The batting/pitching/fielding.csvs are the players real stats
The batting2/pitching2/fielding2.csvs are the players neutralized stats

In my database the b/p/f.csv still contains all real statistics for only the major league seasons. The b2/p2/f2.csv is all the neutralized statistics for whenever they played.

The game uses the b2/p2/f2.csv to determine statistics when recalc is on but it used the b/p/f.csv to determine when their last year is. (It does not use the column in the master.csv or the b2/p2/f2.csv)

This is why it retires negro leaguers after one year with retire on -- there are no stats so it thinks they are done.

Importantly also... If you use the .odb file changing the .csvs makes no difference unless you know how to compile it into a new .odb file.

So you need to have recalc on and retire off for the database to function properly.

One last question: I have your DB in a folder called "Gambo stats." So, when I started my league, I used that as the path (C:\Users\my name\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 11\gambo stats). It seems to be working so I assume that was correct, yes??

I tried to point directly to "C:\Users\my name\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 11\gambo stats\historical_database.odb;" but the computer wouldn't allow that. So I assume once the game points to the selected path, it will automatically select the "odb" file.

Is your folder named Gambo.stats or gambo.stats?
I always make a backup of the stats folder that comes with
The game and copy everything to that folder. But if Your using different
Databases for different leagues You will need to make sure the directory path
Is correct.

The directory path is just as I put in the post (C:\Users\my name\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 11\gambo stats). My question was: will the computer find the historical_database.odb file within the path I selected?

Because I'm sure the computer will not let you point directly to the historical_database.odb file, only to a stats folder that contains the odb file.

Yeah but You said the folder was Gambo.stats but your path is gambo.stats so that's why I'm asking if that was just a typo. Because I if the folder is Gambo.stats then I believe the path should
be Gambo.stats. As far as the odb I'm not sure but I don't think you need to point to that folder.
I think you just point your directory to the master csv file.

I'm interested in importing Negro Leaguers into a custom league I'll be building soon. Do they come with OOTP's built-in database or do I need to download a mod or separate database somewhere? If I need something external, where would I find such a db?

Thanks for your help.

For a good assortment of Negro League players you would need some version of Spritze's database or the Gambo/Spritze DB. We don't have one out for OOTP12 as of yet but will soon.

There were some changes to how the database works that has us needing to fix it up a little bit.
