A couple of historical questions

I don't do much historical simming, so I'm not sure how to deal with a couple of things:

1) When I set up the league, I didn't set up any minor leagues - if I try to add affiliated minors during an off-season, what happens to the players on the reserve rosters? Do they get dumped to the FA pool? Do they automagically get assigned to the affiliated minor league clubs? Do they disappear into the ether?

2) One thing I'm noticing is that with injuries, there are times when there aren't any people available to fill roster spots - is it possible to add fictional players to the draft pool, or do I just have to fill the minors (see my first question about the minors) with fictional players?

Thanks!

1. Reserve players should go to your minor leagues.

2. Everyone plays differently, but when I start a new historical league, I disable injuries for the first 5 years so teams have time to build up some roster depth. Then I go to very low for a couple seasons, then low, etc etc.

You can, if you like, fill minors with fictional players, that's personal preference.

Well, unfortunately, the players on the reserve roster disappeared. On the bright side, I made sure to make a backup of my league first, just in case. Now, to experiment.

Yeah, it's like if you change a minor league team's affiliate, the players switch organization (except they disappear when you add a minor league affiliate and the reserve roster is gone.)

Two options: 1) Go through every player that was on the reserve roster and manually edit them to be on an affiliate or B) export rosters before adding the affiliate, then delete all the lines except for the reserve players and change their teamID to the affiliate--re-import.

Yeah, I found the players are still part of the organization, just not visible unless I look at the "entire organization" on the roster screen. I've already started going though the players and manually moving them. Ah, well, it's a one-time hassle, so it's not the end of the world.

Hmm. Doing a bit of research:

BZ 3514 : Creating a minor league after having a reserve roster

Apparently, this was never fixed.

What I would up doing was just exporting the rosters and changing the Team ID's. I didn't have to delete anybody, just change the reserve roster player ID's to the AAA team. Once I re-imported, the AI moved players around as it saw fit, which is fine.

I also just went ahead and filled the minors with fictional players. I may do that every so often when the minors are beginning to thin out as players retire.
