Keeping Team History when moving location

I've searched the whole board and wanted to see if I could get someone to verify what I think is the answer.

It seems history is tied to the abbreviation given to a team. So if I want to keep the team history when they relocate/re-name etc I need to keep the team abbreviation the same.

Is this true or false.

Basically I want to start in 1871 and use real players. While I will use real teams i do not care about it being historically accurate. As a braves fan when the team moves from boston to milwaukee do i need to keep the BSN or whatever abbreviation if i want to keep the history linked together?

For my historical League, I am in 1906, all the teams that have moved they all have retained their history. That being said I haven't played the league in a few months now, so their history might be the same as their current city vs their original city. I forget

Hope that helps.

If i recall correctly when you look at say the career standings for the Braves it gets switched to whichever current city its located in so if the Boston Braves won the 1901 World Series, But you are in 1991 It will show then as the Atlanta Braves in 1901, but if you look at the History Teams . it will show the other cities and team names that the Braves have had.

I dont know if i explained what I was trying to say properly see if these SS's help.

It should still show as Boston Braves for 1901 though.

"The nickname of Braves was first given the club at the suggestion of John Montgomery Ward, when James E. Gaffney, from Tammany Hall, became club president in 1912. Previously, the club had been known as the Doves, a name bestowed on the team when George B. and John E. C. Dovey became its owners; and also the Red Caps and Beaneaters." (BBG)not sure if u meant that Boston was called the Braves in 1901.

What I was saying is, if in his OOTP League, the Boston Braves won the 01 series, and moved later to Milwaukee, then Atlanta, it would still show in the history as the Boston Braves winning the 01 World Series. Basically, whatever the team was named in 01 should show as that in the history.
