Game Files Won't Import

I have posted this in another forum and I apologize for the double post but I am at a total loss and really hope that someone can solve this problem for me.

My online league recently switched from OOTP8 to version 11 and everything is fine except that I am unable download the latest version of the league file by clicking the "Import Team via FTP" button. The game loads normally, and when I click the button I get the message that "Team file imported successfully!" However the game date does not advance and none of the data from the league's previous sim are present.

I am able to download the league file manually from the commissioner's server, decompress the file and then download the settings file. Doing this does advance the game date and provide me with the up to date league information. However this is not only time consuming it is also a pain in the behind and, of course, any time one manually manipulates data it is a source of potential error. As this league sims four times a week I would like to find a way to not have to manually download the league file every time I want to see how my team is doing.

The other 17 teams in the league do not have this problem so it must be something simple; however, neither the league commissioner nor I have been able to figure out what it is. One of the suggestions that I received in the other forum was to make sure that the "accounts_gms.dat" file was in the settings folder. It is, I think because I am downloading a new settings folder as part of my manual process.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Make sure you have these 2 files in your settings folder: accountsdata_gmsdat, accountsdata_commishdat

If you have your commish send them to you and you should be good to go

I have a question about these two files, do they contain information that changes each time the league commissioner runs a sim, or are they a constant? I ask this because they are present in my settings folder, however the date modified for both is 7/16/10. The last time our league was simmed was last Thursday, which was 8/12/10. If the two files should contain new data, shouldn't the date modified be 8/12/10?

This whole thing is puzzling, especially that the other teams in the league are not having this problem.

They should not change but what I would do is the commish to send me to fresh ones then delete the old ones and see what happens

Unfortunately that was not the answer. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I figured out the problem, it was operator error. Thanks to everyone who took the time to try and solve this.

I didn't want to start another thread about this, but I am having a problem downloading and exporting for one league. I am currently in two active online leagues. One downloads and exports fine, while the other does not download nor allow me to export when I download the file outside the game.

When I try to download, it connects to the server and says something like cannot read file information. When I try to export I get the 202 error.

I have tried importing the accountsdata_gms.dat file from the league that isn't working settings folder and also setting the ftp settings to passive, active, and default with no luck.

One question I do have, is the General Manager's key suppose to be different for each league? It is showing as the same for both leagues.

are you using the same accountsdata_gms.dat file for both leagues?

I am just guessing, but I would think each league would have it's own file, and also it's own key (guessing again, I thought the key is brought in by the accountsdata_gms.dat file, but perhaps it is just in the normal league files)

That's what I'm guessing too. I have tried to load the file from the league settings folder, but the key does not change when I do so.

I asked the commish to resend the settings folder and will see if that helps. I am not sure it will since I copied the settings folder from the original league file I was given and it still is not working.

I deleted and re-downloaded the initial league file. When that didn't work, I upgraded to the "beta" patch (11.2.25) and was able to successfully download and export in-game!

and then the next time I opened the league, the same problem occurred, game seemingly connects to the server, but won't download the file and receive the generic 202 error if I try to export.

I really don't want to uninstall/reinstall the game every time. I did submit a ticket, CAX-771221, but obviously have not had any reply to it.

For what it is worth, I can import and export two other online league files, but not this one. Again, I've tried all the various online league settings. Once I get the league to import / export, it only does it once and the next time it doesn't work again (just this one league, the other online leagues have no problem importing/exporting).

I am in five on-line leagues.
Four work perfectly.
In the fifth, every time I get a new file in-game, I have to go into "on-line league settings" and click "close" (without changing anything since it's already correctly set to passive mode).
Once I do that, I can export fine.
If I don't do that, then I get the 202 error.

Weird but true.
It must be something that league is doing when it runs a sim, but I don't know what.

It took me two attempts to download the file and four attempts to export, but it worked. I have to keep going in and out of online league settings, but finally got the game to import and export. Like kcroyalgm, I have two other leagues that work flawlessly, but this one is a bear to try to download/export in-game.

could it be the server they are hosting the files on?
with 5 different leagues, and 3 leagues for statfreak I wonder if you guys could troubleshoot this more.

identify the variables and then try to rule them out

Jaxx, I don't know what else I can do. The go into "on-line league settings" and click "close" (without changing anything since it's already correctly set to passive mode) trick is working when I am home, but I can't get the league to download or export in-game while at work. The other leagues are fine both at work and at home so it is something specific to this one league.

I am guessing that there is something about this league that your work firewall or other such security does not like. Do you have an IT guy at work you can ask?

Uh, no. Technically I am not supposed to have admin access and am not allowed to install any "foreign" files on my work computer. I'd hate to draw attention to the fact I circumvented both company rules and IT's security.

I will check again during lunch with the newest patch. I didn't have to use the work around last night to download the file.

I am getting a similar issue.
With my Firewall (ZoneAlarm) turned on I can only DL from in-game after
going into Online Settings and closing...without any changes.
With the Zone Alarm Firewall disabled (but Windows Firewall enabled)
I don't need to use the workaround.

I haven't used ZoneAlarm in a long time. Is there a way you can teach it to ignore OOTP?
