Preseason ???

Why can't I play the preseason on my inaugural 2010 MLB season? It starts me off on 4/2 with opening day. I clicked on schedule preseason in the setup. Is this normal or am I missing something?

The first season, you will start on opening day, all future seasons there will be a preseason
