positional ratings

so i have 3 OFs (ideal). They all are best suited to play LF (not so ideal). To make it easier, I'll write their ratings below.

player A: 9 (LF) 1 (CF) 1 (RF)
player B: 4 (LF) 0 (CF) 3 (RF)
player C: 3 (LF) 0 (CF) 2 (RF)

Obviously Im not asking you to set my defensive-lineup for me. Im more interested in whether others find that injuries are more likely to occur if you start a player without any rating. Or perhaps find that the AI takes over and alters your line-up during a sim if a player has zero rating. Or if there is just as little difference between zero and 1, than there is at 9 & 10 and it would make sense to play player A at LF and live with the zero in CF.

Love to here what people think/do etc. THANKS.

personally I would look to make a trade or something to get a CF or RF or both. I don't think guys can get injured but a 1 or 0 will make for a lot of balls that are hit to CF going unfielded. Eventually those guys will develop ratings for CF and RF if you play them there, but this should take place in the minor leagues or spring training.

The AI will start guys with a 0 Fielding Rating on occasion. As far as your best LF try changing his position to CF and see if his ratings in CF go up....Also see what the differences in ratings are between your scout and OSA...If your scout favors tools vs ability & vice versa, he will rank your fielders differently......also your best LF should have no problem playing CF and learning it effectively quickly...as is the case with a former player for me, Michael Jordan. Also is your worst LF has a decent arm he should make a good RF. or the 2nd best player.

I'm assuming your ratings are on a scale of 1-10.

Player A has the best rating in LF, so I'm guessing he has the best fielding ratings (primarily OF range). If you don't mind taking a hit in performance while he learns the position, I'd consider slotting him in CF and having his positional rating there increase over time as he gains experience there.

Players B and C appear somewhat interchangeable, with B being a hair better overall. I would put the one with the better arm in RF and play the other in LF. Neither appear to be able to play CF adequately (I've found that a player's OF range should be at least 7/10 in order to have close to an average positional rating in CF), so out of the three OFs you've described, Player A is the best fit there in the long term.

Edit: Having a low positional rating doesn't impact the chance of injury.
