League: Sabermetric Baseball Sim
Main URL: Sabermetric Baseball Sim Reports URL: Major League Baseball Home OOTP Version: 11 Player Universe: Historical, No Recalc (Current Season: 2000-2001 Offseason) Sim Days: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday - 6 PM EST The Sabermetric Baseball Sim (SBS) is an extremely active historical league with 4,500+ message board posts and at least 20 exports submitted for every sim. Coaches, scouts, free agent compensation, and Amateur Draft bonuses are disabled. We are using "Low" for the injury frequency, and "Average" for position player fatigue. There's a $125 million salary cap, and a $25 million max cash. All ratings are on a 1-10 scale. This is *not* a recalc league. This league has an Arizona Fall League where teams can send their top prospects, and a Nippon Professional Baseball league with a bidding system. We began with the 1995 season (basically the resolution of the players' strike was our starting point), and we just recently began the 2000-2001 offseason. ------------------------------ UPDATED 8/5/2011: The below teams are currently available. If you'd like to join, please email sabermetricbaseball@gmail.com with (a) your real name, (b) the date of birth you'd like displayed in the league file, (c) your AIM name if you have one, and (d) top preference of available teams. Just thought I'd throw my support in here. In the past, I have been involved in numerous leagues, however due to recent time constraints, have had to give up all leagues but one. I chose this one. The caliber of GM's provide a signifcant challenge and the commish keeps everyone in line and productive.
If you are thinking about joining a league, this is the one. |

The following three teams have opened up, we will be sticking with OOTP 11 for one more season (about 2.5 real life months) and then upgrade to 12.....
Anaheim Angels: Home Page The Angels are in arguably the toughest division in the league, but have a solid core of young talent to build around. In the Major League rotation, they have Byung-Hyun Kim (4.5 Star Potential), Gil Meche, and Jarrod Washburn. They have one of the best bullpens in the league, and the middle of their lineup includes Mike Piazza, Jim Edmonds, Troy Glaus, and Adam Dunn. Atlanta Braves: Home Page The Braves are also in a tough division. They have a slightly above average farm system and some good young Major League talent to build around, but were mostly ignored last season (which is why we're looking for a new owner). A lot of work needs to be done this offseason if they're going to contend in 2001, or an owner could go the full rebuild route (and there are quite a few valuable assets that could demand a lot in trade). Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Home Page The Devil Rays are a recent expansion team which has never really had the chance to take off. They were the worst team in 2000 (and will therefore have the #1 pick in the *loaded* 2001 Amateur Draft). They have a couple decent veterans and a good OF, but the rest of their MLB team is in shambles. Sucking this bad has, however, loaded their farm system which currently ranks #2 on the Top Systems report and includes David Wright, Josh Beckett, Adam Wainwright, Mike Cuddyer, and Randy Wells (4.0 Star Potential SP). If you'd like to join, please email sabermetricbaseball@gmail.com with (a) your real name, (b) the date of birth you'd like displayed in the league file, (c) your AIM name if you have one, and (d) top preference of available teams. |
