Union Baseball League needs two owners

The Union Baseball League is an OOTP11 league that was started in 1995 by Fay Vincent and several businessmen that wanted to challenge the status quo of Major League Baseball. With fans upset over the 1994-95 baseball strike the league started with 16 teams. Now two years into it's existance, the ULB has become a serious contender and established itself as an alternative to the MLB.

The ULB has a complete minor league system cobbled together out of real life independant minor leagues. We draft real players (almost the entire inaugural draft was real life career minor league players) and every ULB draft contains real players. Some are MLB players that choose the ULB over the MLB, and many are players drafted by the MLB that never played in the Major Leagues and other imports. We have a lottery draft similiar to the one used by the NBA, where the top three spots in the draft are determined via a lottery system. The ULB sims 4 times a week during the season (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun).

Here is out open team:

Phoenix Fire (1996 - 70-84, least in Players League West)

The Fire co-opted the already under construction of Bank One Ballpark thanks to a ruthless takeover. The team has a posterboy in 3B Jim Thome and is also home to CL Trevor Hoffman. They have some decent prospects down on the farm, with 1996 First Round Pick (9th overall) SP Andy Yount making his debut late in the season. The team needs some work and plays in a competive division with the two time Union Cup Champions the Vancouver Canucks. Probally a rebuilding project, but with Free Agency, who knows.

We've filled the Generals, and I had one person PM me about the Fire. Due to a short vacation folllowed by lack of internet due to a little hurricane that blew through here last week, I am just now responding to the PM. In the event that this person is no longer interested, I will still be taking applications for inclusion in the league.

Also, the Fire have added Brian Jordan in free agency. That should help spart interest, right?

The person who had contacted me has already joined another league, which is good news for you in that there is still one opening in the league. I promise you will not regret it. Most of our members have been playing this game going back ten years. We're not ALL* assholes, I promise.

*Demo is, though.
