Baseball fans rejoice .. It's OOTP season! (Preview/review)

I've just posted my first preview/review of OOTP 13 over at my Blue Jays blog, infieldfly.ca.

You can go directly to it by clicking here..

Keep in mind, this was more of a series overview directed at those who have never played OOTP before. I have some readers who I think would be into the game, so I'm trying to get them interested. Part 2 of the series will feature more detail about the new features and an overall review of the game as a whole.

If you have a comment about something you'd like me to check into or talk more about in the Part 2 writeup, please reply here or at the blog and let me know.

Lastly, we could always use more fans reading infieldfly.ca so if you are a Blue Jays fan, please LIKE us on Facebook by going here. (or just typing Infield Fly into your taskbar).

Even if you aren't a Blue Jays fan, feel free to follow us on Facebook and get updates when there is a new post. If you are a Red Sox or Yankees fan I can assure you there will be plenty of trash talk towards your team throughout the season. I'd be glad to have some AL East followers who I could verbally spar with throughout what should be an interesting season!

Anyway guys, hope you enjoy it, I will let you know when Part 2 is up!

"On the transactions screen there are now green and red arrows next to certain players. I haven’t definitively figured out what those mean yet, but I would assume it means a player should be demoted or promoted. A nice touch for those who want a quick and easy look at their minors system overall."

OH MY! Thanks for the review! April can't come quick enough now!

The natural thought is that they are for guys who should be promoted/demoted, but in looking at it (albeit very quickly) it didn't necessarily jive with some of the guys stats... Maybe more so skills/ratings driven??

ANyway, I will dive more fully into that for the part 2 review to see how accurate and useful they are.

"There doesn’t seem to be anything radically different from OOTP 12 in terms of in-game sounds and layout of the gameplay simulation screen."

So the "no way!!!" guy is always there

So no one cares what I focus on for the review of the game? Or no one has any things they would like addressed or looked at? Alright, I guess I'll just write about whatever I want

I am still waiting on the second part of the review so you can address the promotion/demotino section! Good review, but you need to hurry on the second part

It's a combination of ratings & stats that determine wether the game thinks players should be demoted / promoted.

Thanks! First thing I noticed is that you said the release date is the 6th. That's only for preorders. For everyone else it's the 9th.

Well all the other media and reviews I've seen mention the 6th .... I'll clarify that in the next writeup though, thanks.

That makes sense, as some of the guys I saw with "up" arrows weren't exactly setting the world on fire stats wise, but perhaps had decent development and skills/ratings a bit too advanced for that level.
