Playoff experiences with the bye week
I have set up the playoffs using the new bye system. I have ran 2 seasons and the teams who have gotten the byes (also the 2 teams with the best winning %) have not fared well at all. I know this is a small sample (2 seasons) but I was wondering if there is rust from not playing for a few days (all my series are best of 5)? I was curious how other people were doing with the playoff byes? Anyone what to post there experiences with it? Is it really an advantage to have a series off?

I have run one season, but have four leagues...so I have many bye teams
in general the bye works like I think it should the teams don't get rusty from my experience, half the time the bye teams won and half lost....for me I am seeing the same level of upsets as I saw in ootp12, but a bye at least guarentees the top seeds won't be knocked out in the first round |

I realize this is an old thread, but have there been any other insights into this? The FOBL is considering going to a format where the top three teams from each divisions (4) make the playoffs, with the winner of 2 vs 3 moving on to play 1 (first-round bye). There is a concern though that bye teams might accumulate rust, making the bye more of a disadvantage than anything. I'd like to hear what some experiences with this have been. Thanks.
