Best Pitched Game, ever
With a Game Score of 107, Sam McDowell tops Kerry Wood's All-Time best of 105. McDowell strikes out 20 while throwing a Perfect Game. In an irony of ironies, McDowell, like Wood, was 20 years old when he pitched his 20 K game.

Box Score
Not exactly a slouchy line-up for McDowell to face. He hands a Silver Chalice to both Babe Ruth and Stan Musial. No, the Frank Thomas at 1B is not The Big Hurt.
Random debut. Historical settings. 2004 environment. With 12 strikeouts through 6 innings, Larry Strands grounds out to lead off the 7th. McDowell strikes out the next 8 batters to reach 20 and garner the Perfecto. Last edited by VanillaGorilla; 12-10-2012 at 05:45 AM. |

yes...I had overlooked this when it happened. Once play-offs began I had to save the seasons to the Almanac to get LDS/LCS numbers separate from WS numbers for candidates. That I was able to pull this box score from there after having missed it when it happened is an unintended benefit of saving games to the Almanac.

That is one amazing pitching performance. I don't think I've seen anything as good in OOTP before. In my current league I did have something pretty amazing though - Ivan Muniz of the Cleveland Braves pitched back to back no-hitters, against two different teams, a few years ago. Not sure how insane that is, obviously it happened with Johnny Vander Meer in real baseball but for OOTP that is pretty rare.
