How do you help the sisters of the poor?

You know-a team like the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL),they don't have a snowball's chance in Hell to make the playoffs but you feel sorry for them and want to improve them.

If I haven't been paying attention to a league or team for awhile and they have fallen on hard times,I assign the top three hitters,the top three homerun hitters and the top three winningest pitchers from that league to the team that's finding it hard too win.
