Exclamation OOTP 14 Update, Version 14.2.9 available!

Hey guys!

We have just released the second update for OOTP 14, the version number is 14.2.9. It fixes reported bugs and also introduces a couple of small useful features.

Changes in this update, compared to version 14.1.4:
  • Fixes reported bugs
  • Fixes rare crashing and freezing issues
  • Includes updated & improved major league rosters (must start new game for changes to take effect)
  • Added "Auto-play to next playoff round" to the play menu, if the league is in playoff mode
  • Added an input line which lets you modify the internal historical year of the league (progressing options in game setup) which is used for auto-import routines. That makes it easier to properly set up fictional historical leagues.
  • Improved player talent creation in feeder leagues
  • Fine-tuned player development & aging code
  • The player list view in team screens is now remembered, for example when returning to the lineup screen
Download links for version 14.2.9:

Download link for Linux, full setup:
Linux Installer

UPDATE INFO:
To apply the patch, simply download the setup file, run it and and install the game over your current installation. Alternatively, for PC only, there is a smaller patch file which will update your current installation properly. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. If you have modified any default files, please make sure you backup these files and restore them after the update. Your saved games are not touched and will remain compatible with the new version. This version is also compatible to version 14.1 and 14.0 online league files.

Alright, enjoy the update! We will take a break now, and return to work in about a week. Then we will add even more improvements and tweaks for the next update.

Cheers,
Markus + Andreas

Question,

Is/was there any significant roster additions/changes from the last update that could possibly warrant me from starting a new league?

Basically, is there anyone or anything major in the new updated roster that we should consider?

Thanks!

Quick question:

So this means I can take a league in say, 1965 and set it to progressive say, in 1945, and then when it rolls over to 1966 the league will think it is in 1946? Is that what this means?

Cheers! Enjoy your break guys. I think you have earned it.

Yes, exactly! The import/recalculation routines will then use 1946 as the year.

AFAIK there have been minor tweaks made to ratings and also to the first-year player draft pool. Nothing major since version 14.1.4.

Here's a wild idea. How about next year you do that before you release the game so that we poor online commissioners do not have to spend another 12 months trying to get all the ducks in a row only to be told to patch every two weeks until January, just in time for another annual round of expenditure on a flawed 'new and exciting' version that turns out to be basically just more of the same with a flashy new label and an increase in price?

If you can't handle the new, stick with the old.

Does anyone bitch about this game more than on-line players? Seriously.

"Fine-tuned player development & aging code"

Could we get some clarification on this update?

"Fine-tuned player development & aging code"

My personal preference has been to run the aging rate at 0.9 as I felt players were aging a bit to quickly for my taste.

When you've done your survey and have some numbers to back up your bs accusation, then maybe I'll believe you, but until such time please put your broad brush away.

Got a trojan alert when I came to download the patch. My AV blocked it. Just a heads up in case anyone else encountered it.
Avast said it was from this URL: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/misc.php?v

Did you turn in a bug report on it?

Here's another wild idea. Nothing perfect. Markus and team do a great job. Do you file the same complaint to Microsoft every 2nd Tuesday of the month??

Like hopeful said, if you don't like this version, you are more than welcome to go back to any older version and honestly, stay there.

I respectfully disagree. I am five online leagues currently and about to launch a sixth. I don't complain. I know that OOTP is like wine, it gets better with age.

The deal is Markus and crew give it their best. They work their fingers off and run constantly simulations to make sure they have it right. If not, they listen to us offer feedback and alert them to errors and then they are back at it again to get it right and get it straight. They put in a lot of time and effort into this and we should be thankful, not spiteful. If you want to be the latter, you are on your own.

And Markus, Andreas and everyone else...Thanks for an awesome product.

They DO do that before releasing the game. I take it, then, that you don't want them to release any patches?

While I appreciate your enthusiasm and passion for the game, your expectations are some of the most unrealistic I've ever seen.

You've bitched about patches in the past so know full well there would be a patch almost immediately after release and then at least a couple more patches / updates over the next few months.

I really don't see how this is OOTP Developments issue as you could have merrily continued using OOTP 13 for your league(s) until a patch or two was released. No one forced you to immediately switch and almost everyone would have advised you to wait until at least the first patch if not a month or so after release before switching an online league to a new version.

That said, I look forward to your rant after OOTP 15 is released since this seems to be an annual thing for you now.

Bug showing contracts signed during the 2013-14 offseason as signed before the 2013 season is still not fixed.
