"Best" Random Talent Change modifier?
What is the general consensus for this game for a realistic RTC modifier that models the game in real life. I have around 150, but I feel it may be too high...

I use the default setting of 100.

I tend to bump up the randomness to better mimic real life (IMO, of course). On the default settings (or even lower) the draft is way too predictable for me. I think I usually put 125.
EDIT: Of course, the best setting is whatever is the most fun for you. |

I use 67 because I like some randomness but not too much randomness.

I've never felt the need to change from the default.

50 for modern MLB, 75 for my fictional ABF.

stupid question...what is it and how does it work?
been playing this game for years but always left it at the default as I didn't know exactly what results I would get.

I guess it depends what you want from your game, but for realism, it needs to be way higher than 100. Mine is set at 200 right now, but that seems to be a touch too high.

Its all preference but if you want to replicate modern day MLB for "realism" then somewhere between 150-200 should get you there. I am at 200.

By your comment above it seems that Markus set the default value way too low. Without more info it seems we have a game feature with reduced value because we don't know how to use it or properly determine its effect.

I think it works as the higher the number is, the more random it is, which means theres more chances of something changing, whether it be a hit or a boost in stats. Like I picture the computer making minute changes everyday based on the randomness, a point decrease here, an increase there. But the randomness of it depends on how high the setting is. Higher will cause more changes.

I'm not sure I know any more than you about the exact details of the mechanism. Obviously the higher the setting, the more randomness. My understanding has been that the setting affects the number of changes to Potential ratings, and not the magnitude of those changes.

I'm not sure if the default TCR setting is more fun than a realistic setting, but I suspect it is. So it may be set that way intentionally. Or it may just be that Markus isn't aware the setting is lower than what would be realistic. It's a really time-consuming thing to test, unfortunately, so I can't tell you what precise setting is best. |
