My League is Segregated :/
Hey guys,
Been enjoying OOTP14 with the '85 Pirates (may be the worst team in history with all the has been's) Well, I noticed I didn't turn on the player picture feature until like '89 or something. When I did, I noticed a strange thing....I have no colored players AT ALL. Bo Jackson? White. Eric Davis? White. All of them. I find that incredibly strange. Any way to fix this? |

You need to either change their facial type settings in the editor or install the Historical FaceGen Mod.

It should be in Add Ons Central. From the Game Menu.

I see that...looks like there are 3 "skins" files I can download. I tried a couple but I get an error finding the target file. My guess is because I'm on a Mac that there could be a different folder structure. I'll keep digging to see if I can fix the issue.

You dont want a Skin file, you want the historical facegen pack. Skins are Dark which i use Claasic and whatever the 3rd one is. Those are just the background color.

You absolutely have more options than I do. I see that you have the OOTPMods.com added to your server. Trying to get that working now. Not saving for some reason. Still working on it.

I'm going to check out those threads but what I did in the meantime is install the faces manually. I found the directory (in true Apple style, it's buried in the "hidden" Library folder) and copied them in. It works now. I can do logos and other things manually too, but I'll see if I can make the process more automated. Thank you for the help!!!

Yes. It's 2014. Stop using the term "colored". It's offensive.

Wow, it took 13 posts and two months for someone to point that out. Just what is the median age of this board, anyway?

Ahh yes, because the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People have certainly gone out of their way to purge that awful, offensive word from... oh wait... no they haven't.
Geez, the guy wanted to remove all the inaccurate white faces from his player pictures... can we maybe not bend over backwards to find offense? |

Yes, I would agree. But words require context. The OP clearly had no racist context in his request. He wanted Bo Jackson to look like Bo Jackson and not Garth Iorg... And yes, I'm only referencing Garth Iorg as an excuse to include this picture of his bitchin' batting stance...

As a 48 year old African American man, I found his use of the word "colored ballplayers" offensive. I was providing some insight that he may not get otherwise. Let's make a deal....I won't tell you how you should react or feel to what may offend you, and you don't tell me how I should react or feel about what may offend me. BTW- You may want to read the quote from Jackie Robinson in my sig. Thank you.

Fair enough. But for the record, I didn't tell you to do or feel anything, I requested. I asked you to consider that maybe no offense was intended. That is a difference and not an insignificant one.
I guess I just read in as an anachronism... like he was from Ireland or Australia or somewhere that certain word stigmas don't exist... Generally speaking, I'm from the George Carlin School... where the words are innocent, and it's the context from the speaker that matters. The title of the thread is "my league is segregated (with a frowny emoticon)". I dunno, I just don't see any intention to offend there. But if you do, then by all means have at it. I wasn't trying to stop you. |

I think trying to find offensive comments in a baseball simulation forum says more about you than it does about me. Plus, you don't know my race, now do you?
Welcome to the internet, enjoy your stay. P.S. Don't look into the NAACP acronym...it's offensive. |
