Rising Star League - Fictional League with Openings
Hello OOTP dudes! I'm Greg, and I'm the commissioner of the Rising Star League. We are halfway through our 26th season of play, and we have a few teams that are in need of some new leadership!
The Rising Star League was founded in April of 2008. It is a fictional, potential-only league, using a 1-10 talent scale. We sim three times per week, 7 days per sim. It's a real fun, competitive league, with a couple unique twists thrown in. I've run the league since it's inception, and I'm dedicated to the league's success and development. I don't run a team, which frees me up to pay strict attention to the league as a whole and make sure things run smooth and competitively as long as I can. Of course, as we all know, a league is only as good as the people in it. We've got a great group of guys so far, but as time goes by you inevitably need to add more. We're looking for a few more competitive people to fill a few of our current openings. We're looking for GMs of all skill and experience ranges. Some of the best guys we've picked up have been total online newbies. Some of the least reliable have been OOTP veterans. And plenty in between. Don't think that league experience is a prerequisite here. Anyway, let's find out if you're interested. Here are some useful links for learning more about the league: RSL Home Page RSL Forums Page RSL Rules Page Here's a quick hit-list of some of the non-standard features we have in the RSL: * Arbitration after 2 service years and Free Agency after 5 to make things a little tighter financially so that no team can simply ride a wave of cheap young talent to a dynasty. Always need to be thinking ahead, but you also can't be afraid to seize an opportunity. * A divisionless conference setup to ensure the best teams make the playoffs each season. * Periodic foreign league player postings conducted by closed bidding system to add some international flair and intrigue. * Full StatsLab utility integration because StatsLab is great. * Reverse draft system where non-playoff teams get a better pick based on how well they did to increase league-wide competitiveness and make sure teams are always trying to win more games. No more years of teams tanking hard and then magically turning into a 10-year dynasty when all their high draft picks hit. An active league is better, and we encourage activity and appreciate the people who are always working to improve their team any way they can. * Live In-Game Broadcasts via THE INTERNET for big games because it's awesome and who doesn't love to watch the OOTP AI make really dumb double switches in playoff Game 7s in real time? * Our own IRC chat server/room where a bunch of us hang out and chat baseball/the RSL most of the time for when you really really gotta talk trades and PMs just don't fly fast enough. These are just some of the things we do in the RSL. I've really tried to put together the best league I can these last five years. I hope you'd like to come be a part of it! If you're interested, here are the current open teams for you to look over! The Minneapolis Vikings - The Vikings are a powerhouse right now. Aging, but still competitive (62-38 this year) the Vikings have had one losing season in the last 15 years. They've won three titles in the last 10. They have one of the five best players in the history of the league on their team who refuses to get old (though he's hurt for the rest of this year). They have a player flirting with a .400 average this year. They're built to win, and just need someone to press the right buttons in the playoffs again. The San Francisco Reds - Some awesome young players, but the Reds seem to always underperform. They need some steady ownership and someone who can make the right decisions on which veterans to fill the team's many holes with. The Cincinnati Twins - The Twins window is either rapidly closing, or is already shut. For a few seasons they had some excellent talent, but through years of mismanagement they've probably missed their chance. Still, there's some good players left and this team can at least play for a solid draft pick. The Los Angeles Stars - The Stars, another very young team with some awesome youth. This team is another team looking to make the transition from talented young roster to perennial contender. There is a LOT to work with here, and the right GM will be able to take this team to some pretty high heights. Anyway, just feel free to drop me a line if you're at all interested. You can reply in this thread, or drop me a PM, or shoot me an email at GMYale@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
