Issues with online league: Game date not advancing
I'm currently having a problem with my online league in which I'm a GM.
Everything had been working fine, but now when I pull down the updated league file after a sim, the in-game date does not advance (nor does any of the in-game data update). After this, it won't let me download a league again because it thinks things are up to date. I've tried deleting the league.lg folder and starting over several times, making sure that the .dat files go into the setting folder, and yet the game date will not advance with the updated league file. It would appear that I'm the only one in the league having this problem. I saw a previous thread with a similar issue in which the OP explained that upgrading his router's firmware resolved it, but I'm scratching my head as to why that would matter. Could that really be the culprit, or is there some other file or perhaps something cached that could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

I am having the same exact problem. I deleted and reloaded my league file, and then all the league's rosters were changed and players were substituted with new fictional players and a bunch of "Jim Unknown". No clue what to do now.
I am running OOTP v14.6 Build 33, on a Mac OSX v.10.6.8 Last edited by KMcBride; 12-06-2013 at 09:42 PM. |

1) Did you replace the accountsdata_gms.dat file? 2) The file you are reinstalling, how far behind the Game Date is it? 3) What .dat files are you putting in the settings folder. I have had this problem in the past but a reinstall of my leagues file always fixed it. My league.lg file Is this what yours looks like? Are you putting all .dat files in settings folder? Good luck, Tom

I am not a Mac user so I do nto know what the files look like on a Mac. I am guessing they are the same as a PC other than directories and where they are stored. 1) Check with your commissioner and make sure you have the correct file. 2) Compare your league.lg folder to mine above. 3) Make sure you got a new accountsdata_gms.dat file. This file being corrupt or missing usually causes errors when exporting not importing but it may be the culprit. 4) Are you getting any error messages when you download? Good luck, Tom

have you tried hitting the jump to current date button on the schedule screen? I know it sounds crazy but I used to have a guy with the same problem, what was happening was I was running the sim without going to the schedule screen so the screen never moved with the date so the user must move it manually, now I hit that button before I create the file and he has not had a problem since.
also I would like to point out that the in-game OOOL uses version numbers on it's league files so it is easy as pie to check if you have the latest file, just check version numbers. it boggles my mind that more leagues don't use the in-game oool thing. but I guess I shouldn't be surprised, even the on-line grand champion league doesn't use it, if ootp won't use it why would anybody else? and that's why make even less sense from a marketing perspective. but anyway

"Jim Unknown" means you have a corrupt file, you need to delete everything and start over with a new clean league file install (League file NOT re-installing the ootp game it's self) For those that cannot re-download the league files..you need to go into the settings folder of your save game and delete the file named online_league_file_time That is the file that tracks the date/timer of your download and is telling you your files are current

Unfortunately, it wasn't as simple as jumping to the current date, as I was already there.
When I first came across the issue, I decided to wipe my league.lg folder and start over with a zipped file that my commish provided, which populates most of the league folder when unzipped (except for the human-managers.dat file, which I add manually). The only exceptions is the settings folder, which I manually create, and then place the 2 accountsdate_gms/commish.date files which I manually add. These are pulled down from our league's URL, and I'm told they're updated with each sim. My league folder looks exactly as TBH-Adfabre had pictured. I'm still not sure what it could be, but thanks to all for the replies so far! |

So I've fixed the issue, though I'm not really sure of the root cause.
I switched back to my old router and then downloaded the updated league file. The game date did advance this time. There was mention of this "solution" in an older thread in which the OP upgraded his router's firmware, which solved has stagnant game-date problem. There wasn't any further information as to what might have triggered things, however. Perhaps I'll peruse through my router settings and see if anythings jumps out at me. |

1. My commish has been fantastic at helping me with these issues. EVery sim (this has happened 3 sims in a row, now) I have to request that he posts a new accountsdata dat file, and a new .lg file to our league site so that I can download it manually. For some reason, when I download everything manually, it fixes the issue, but that's a huge pain for my commish, and for me. Anyway, I'm sure I have the correct files. 2. The league file is exactly the same on a mac. 3. See above. I have to replace this almost daily to address this problem after each sim. I'm not sure if its the cause of the problem, but I do it anyway. But replacing it certainly hasn't fixed anything, either. 4. No error messages. I'm completely dumbfounded. I will look into my router's firmware, although I'm not exactly sure how to do that. |

In order to access your router, you'd just need to plug your router's URL into your browser. Odds are good that it's 192.168.1.1
If that doesn't work, for a mac you'll need to go to menu/system preferences/network and it should be listed under Airport. If there's updated firmware for your router you'll most likely be able to download and install it all right there in a minute or two. |

Also, for anyone having this issue down the road, here's a bit of my theory on the cause (at least in my case):
I've always used a wireless connection to my router up until now. Everything worked flawlessly with my online league in the past, at least until I decided to "upgrade" my router to one with some more modern settings. This is when I started having problems with OOTP. I found success by either a) setting up and connecting wirelessly to my old router again, or b) wired connection to my new router. I think that the root cause was an unstable connection, due to possible interference (a handful of other networks nearby) and me being a few rooms away from the router. A more permanent (and a bit bit MacGuyver-tech) for me was to use DD-WRT firmware on my old router in order to turn it into a repeater bridge. In short, it now picks up the signal from my main router and creates another access point, allowing both wired and wireless connections. |
