Manager v General Manager

I want my cake and eat it too.

I have started playing a Major League Fictional season as Manager/GM. I enjoy managing the game, and I have been too greedy to be an effective GM. So I went into settings and gave up the GM duties.

On the first day advanced, the new computer GM had 3 players transfer from AAA to the Majors. One of the guys sent down is leading the league in hitting and is, was my best clutch hitter.

Is there a setting where a manager can keep a guy on the Major league active roster without taking over full GM duties.

Thanks.

You could remain both GM and Manager but delegate most GM functions to others. Just toggle things as you want them on your Team Control Settings -- on the same screen where you defined your role as manager/GM.

If you recall your clutch hitter & he stops coming up with clutch hits, will you blame it on his demotion or the initial small sample size?

I will give you the benefit of my experience, such as it is. I don't know if it matches exactly what you're trying to do, but it's close enough to mention.

I was the GM of my team and I hired a manager. If the manager is "strong" enough (a.k.a. Leo Durocher), then he will override everything and what Leo wants, Leo gets. If didn't matter who got assigned what, Leo ruled.

If you hire a nobody manager, they follow orders. If you hire Leo, he's the boss. It's probably true for guys like Casey and Sparky too.

So maybe you want to test it out with some of the better managers to see what you get. It's a nice feature (in my opinion). I want to be the god of my team, but am I willing to give up some of my godliness to get a manager like Durocher?
