Exclamation OOTP 17 Update #4, Version 17.7.51 Available!

Important: This update is only for OOTP 17 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version.
It is NOT compatible with the Steam or Mac OSX AppStore version! The Steam update is available via the Steam client and the Mac AppStore version is pending review at Apple, which will take some more days.


Good morning!

The past couple of weeks we have monitored customer feedback and the bug reports forum and have been able to fix all reported issues that we were able to reproduce. Also, we have tuned and improved some features So, another update has just gone live, OOTP 17 version 17.7.51.

Here is the complete changelist (compared to update #3, version 17.6.46):
- Improved 2016 MLB roster sets (need to start new game for changes to apply)
- 3D in-game movement improvements
- Fixed rare crashes when playing out games in 3D on Macs
- Updated the historical databases (error corrections)
- Fixed problem with All-Stars being placed in wrong positions
- Adjusted AI active roster construction
- Adjusted AI player evaluation
- Fixed bug when runner got hit by ball
- Fixed bug with draft budgets not being counted properly
- Fixed bug where AI was not always respecting players refusing demotion
- Added option to not allow relievers winning Cy Young Award
- Fixed rare error where some games would not load
- Fixed errors where independent league teams would sign International Amateur FA
- Fixed several small bugs and cosmetic issues
*Note: If you are running a league with scouting discoveries ON, but international amateur free agents OFF, then there's a (now known) bug that will cause your international complexes to be continuously emptied. We will try to get a fix in for this soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update Info: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Info for online league commishes: This update changes the file format because of added data. Previous builds will not load league files saved with 17.7.51! So, make sure every user in your online league has updated until you update the league to the new version. However, team exports done with 17.7.51 will work in previous versions, so online league users may update without issues even if the commish has not updated yet.

I think this was fixed in the previous patch already, we increased the revenue of MLB teams in the quickstart / standard games a bit.

Once during pre-season and then again in spring training. By this time, they end up settling for 1 year deal at low salary because all of the available funds for teams are used up on pitchers.

Nope, does not happen in our tests. When I looked at this I tested various fictional league configurations and did not run across this, except for the quickstart, which was fixed by increasing revenue a bit.

If you have it happen in your league configuration, I suggest increasing the national / local TV contracts and assigning new fictional financials to teams. If this still does not work, PM me & upload leagues files. It will take a bit until I will respond though, as I am going on an extended break now.

Has this patch addressed Free Agency signings? The only problem I am having - is seeing players like Mike Trout and Bryce Harper for example - have high demands initially entering FA, then not signing with anyone until basically the start of spring training --- then signing one year contracts. This is unrealistic for a player to sign and enter free agency every year. This needs to be looked at.

Thanks for the update.

One issue. Is there any way to update this game without overwriting the fg_files folder?

I had updated a bunch of players FaceGens and they all reverted to the default ones that came with the game when I updated.

No, we have not done any changes to that yet (other than general AI tweaks to hopefully better evaluate their rosters). It's on the list of things to investigate, and we'll try to get to that in the next couple patches.

If you're running into that, I would suggest that you copy your custom files to another folder, and then copy them back after. The default fg files for players that come with the game will be copied on install.

"Fixed bug with draft budgets not being counted properly"

If I'm still pre-draft in my league, will installing the patch fix the budgets for this season? I have a couple teams with a draft budget of $0 when it shouldn't be.
