Creating a Caribbean Baseball League help
As title said. Made the teams (see my future suggestions thread for how stupidly hard that was) but sadly assumed too much common sense;
The colleges and high-schools are populated by a single nation - Trinidad in this case (as they are the "nation" for the regional league) - despite being set to different countries across the region. I set up the player percentages to be roughly equal, but the game decided to crap on that idea and revert to the original spread, which moronically involves 75% of players from 3 nations (Cuba, Dominican Republic and Haiti). I now have 2,500 Dominicans, 5,300 Trinidadians (see above), but 1 player from about 10 of the nations. Literally 1 player. Lonely guys... I edited some of the nations in the World XML file (just the BB ratings), but it only worked on one game start (I tried again and it reverted to the original files) Feel like I'm going crazy - I have extensive experience in editing other Sim games but I feel very stupid right now. |

Wish I could tag Padreman for this...pretty sure he does this exact same thing.

I believe you can accomplish what you are trying to do without using a specific region. Test it out by using "no nation specified"; "no foreign players allowed", and base limit on "team nationality." Set the default player origin to all the nations you want with an equal percentage. The amateur draft pool origin should match. Hope this helps.

This editor is just terrible, one miss-click and all the work goes. Why aren't clubs separate entities that can be edited? Doesn't look like OOTP18 incorporated my suggestion, so I'll come back in a couple years I guess. Thanks for your time, I appreciate it! |

Im having trouble understanding what youre trying to do and how youre trying to balance it. If you give me a few more details id be glad to help you try to get it set up how you want. At the moment theres not enough information to figure out why its not working the way you want.

Here are the problems;
On top of this, OOTP has started flickering with a black screen if I play too long, and I've just lost a number of edits I've made as it just wouldn't stop being black. I'll wait another 3 years perhaps. Again thanks for your time and efforts - they are appreciated, but I cant' see a way to make it work at the moment - the game editing seems fundamentally broken for what I want to achieve. |

As I figured, the HS teams cannot make a legal roster with no foreigners limit, not sure why it fills teams with ineligible players - needs a check for that. Can't do a fantasy draft, so I guess this game is broken out the gate.
Made them play with greys for now, was going to assign manually but an hour later and only the two Antiguan teams done I decided this was not the best use of time Update: 3 years in and the High Schools still generate (or sign, not sure) players of ineligible nationalities. Most teams only have only 2 or 3 eligible players in their roster who are not grey. Will log this as a bug Last edited by Tiresais; 02-27-2017 at 07:27 AM. |

It seems like you may be trying to put all your feeder teams in one league. If you separate each island or only a couple islands into individual leagues you probably get better results. I feel like you maybe expecting there to be one set of magic parameters that just makes a league work. Unfortunately, there are just too many variables for that to happen. I find it not uncommon for me to spend 10+ seasons tinkering with things until I get things balanced like. I also find it easier to start small and then work out adding single leagues at a time instead of trying to set it all up at once.

It depends on your computer. If yours can handle it OOTP can do it. But that's likely your best pathway for the realism factor.
