Would love some input on a team name
So I am going to relocate one of my teams to Edmonton, Alberta and right now I am stuck on what to call them. I have logos and whatnot in mind for whatever team name I pick. Here is what I have brainstormed.
Eskimos Explorers Expos Oil Kings Oil Barons Oilers Trappers |

I love the sound of 'Edmonton Explores', but I also like "Oilers" as well. Since Edmonton is known as " The Oil capital of Canada", anything that has to do with Oil will work imo. I'd even consider names such as ~ *Edmonton Drillers *Edmonton Frackers EDIT (Added two more team names for consideration): Edmonton is also known for/as for its wildlife. The two animals mostly associated with Edmonton are the Coyotes and Raccoons. Raccoons are probably its most well known 'critter' according to some tourist websites that explain Edmonton in a bit more detail. So, I'd also consider: *Edmonton Raccoons *Edmonton Coyotes All the best to you on your quest!!! lol : Last edited by vulcan4; 01-16-2017 at 09:17 AM. |

Expos doesn't make sense for Edmonton. Montreal held the Expo 67 World's Fair, which is why they had the name.
I know Edmonton was trying to hold the Expo 2017 but the bid was rejected. |

Well in my fictional world it was Edmonton that had it instead of Montreal just so I can justify the name

I always used Klondikes for that hole of a city (clearly biased being raised in Calgary) since their yearly fair is called Klondike Days, or at least it used to be when I was a kid growing up. My aunt and uncle and grandmother lived in Edmonton so we always were up there visiting.
I believe there is even a logo in the Cephas James logo pack for Klondikes. |

I don't know about Frackers. Just don't like the sound of it.

On second thought, "Trappers" does have a nice ring to it as well and it would 'logistically fit' because of the wildlife Edmonton is known for.
God, I love this game...lol. So, here are my top three picks in no particular order in regards to which I like better, etc. along with a fourth pick as my honorable mention/consideration; *Trappers *Drillers *Oilers Honorable Consideration - Explorers. OP, which name are you more leaning towards yourself at the moment?? |

I wouldn't do 'Oilers', because the real Edmonton Oilers. I like Eskimos, though.

So I wanted to share a few of the designs I am doing right now. These are a bit modern as I will be starting this team in the 70s but I always like to test with modern looking logos first. For some reason the ones with the Blue and Orange are the sharpest looking ones.

Orange and blue is nice, and I like the A's colors too, but they don't feel cold enough. You should try sky blue and white, or sky blue and orange.

I can hijack my own thread I believe especially as this is relevant to the team. So the league is being built up like the NHL with some things here and there. I have been debating for a bit if I should go with 8 teams with 2 divisions of a 6 team thing between 1942-1966. Don't you hate when you can't make up your mind when building a league haha.

There's only one choice. Edmonton Drillers

Thanks! I have a set already but wasn't going to pick that name as I have overdone it in the past. |

The Oil Barons is a pretty cool name, but those Drillers uniforms look really good. I'm definitely stealing those and changing my Edmonton team to that.
