Post VIDEOS to help those learning OOTP

Hi guys;

I've been playing OOTP for about 4 years. It is with no doubt in my mind having played almost every single baseball computer sim out there since the late 70's by far the most enjoyable and detailed of the bunch.

I run a great league with a bunch of great guys that have a lot of passion for OOTP so I decided to make a few videos to help some of the newer GMs that recently joined over the past couple of seasons. One thing is for sure - OOTP can be very intimidating to start and when you add in the finances this can make the challenge overwhelming versus the experienced OOTP gamers.

I hope the videos will add to your playing experience in OOTP.

The first one discusses finances within the game and specifically money for free agents and also money for extensions. The details of the finances are also specific to my league the ABL so things such as Revenue Sharing are discussed. I will walk you through what areas you can focus on to help free up money for free agents and/or extending players. I will discuss what financial items are fixed, variable and estimated as the season progresses. I will discuss where the figures come from within the OOTP game so you can better understand the alignment between your Accounting & Finance screens.

I have 8 other videos in the series shared with my league members. If you enjoyed the above video and found it useful please let me know and I will post the others in the series.

They are about 10-20 minutes each.

Happy Holidays!

I watched this and I think it is very good. It should be really helpful for someone that has questions about this aspect of the game.

Hey,

I would like to watch the videos, but am a bit wary about downloading those files...
Would you mind creating a youtube channel and posting your videos on there?

Thanks!

Hi guys;
Glad you enjoyed watching the 1st video.

As requested, here is another video on setting your batting lineup.

I've always been fortunate to be at the top or near the top of my online leagues with offense namely, scoring runs and hitting homers. It has been my experience that offense is more important than defense to win in Online Leagues. I've only missed the playoffs approx. 7 times in just over 40 seasons of Online league play using this batting lineup strategy.

Obviously, having a decent middle INF (SS/2B) should never be overlooked, especially good range in the OF and a strong throwing arm at C. Also the need for 3 shutdown SPs and a very strong pen is all good especially CL, SU men (L & R) and a lefty specialist

I hope you enjoy the video and the insight into some of the strategies I use to set the lineup and use some of the advanced features of the OOTP game.

If you enjoy this video and would like to see more please just reply back. If you have a specific area that you would like some help on please just reply with this request.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Jason

I've also really enjoyed and appreciated these two videos that you've posted. I've casually played OOTP for the past couple of years and never really understood the financial system as you explained it and I also found it helpful and interesting to see another person's perspective regarding lineup determination. I look forward to and hope to see some of the other videos that you've made.

Thanks for posting them to the community!

RULE V Draft - Video

This is a short video I shared with my league - ABL on how to prepare for the Rule V Draft. It highlights the areas within the game you need to access to prepare for this draft with a very general overview of the Rule V draft itself.

I hope this is helpful! If you find these videos useful for you please reply and I will post more of them to this thread.

Happy New Years everyone!

Nicely done videos. Were the videos ever posted to YouTube? If not, I could archive them on there under USF's credit.
