Facegen Stopped Working After Crash

Ok, i'm playing the game, try to enter the scout tasklist for one of my scouts, and the game crashes (which has happened a few times itself...known issue?). So i reopen the game, and all of a sudden facegen isn't generating new faces anymore. i either get a baseball field background or a tiny hat in the bottom left corner, but no player! I opened a different league to see if it was specific to the league, but i get the same thing there. here's what it looks like

Well, oddly, a restart seemed to fix the problem.
