Player mood--angry over being a starter?
I've seen a few instances of this. In one, a player has the expectation: "Expects to be a bench player." But he is in the starting lineup, and thus eventually becomes Angry because his expectation is not being met.
In the other instance, a pitcher (with good endurance, btw) has the expectation: "Expects role in bullpen." But he is in the starting rotation. He, too, becomes increasingly Angry. Neither of these instances is realistic. I don't think a player would become angry because he is given a larger role than he expected.

They could be extremely lazy. Frank Thomas wanted to be a DH only on the White Sox. He wasn't happy about having to play the field.
If this is a rare situation you could write off, but if many players are angry about an upgraded position on a ball club I would say it is unrealistic.

I've seen this with some players as well, particularly if you take over a bad team and are "stretching" younger players by putting them in the rotation or starting lineup. Although, in some cases, it may be that the player is mad because the team isn't winning.

I haven't seen this, yet. I'm not sure every player does this. I have players who are quite happy with their role when they're in the starting rotation when they say they expect to be in the bullpen. This might be another of those morale features, as others have said that the player really only wants to be in the bullpen or in a supporting (bench) role and doesn't want the stress of starting.

You can check what's making him mad if you are in commissioner mode.

Actually, no need to be commish. On the player page, there is a Morale link that will breakdown how he is unhappy. It's on the top right of the lower left box, I think, although this is from memory, as I am at work.

Also. I've seen this once. It was with a 22 yr. old catcher that "expected" to be a bench player. He was Angry that he had to work every day. The next year, he expected to start, he still did - and now he's happy as can be .If he didn't have the potential to be the best catcher my league has ever seen, I'd have cut the Lazy, Angry, bum. |

The "problem," I discovered, was my lack of understanding of the nuance of the morale system. What the players were unhappy about were their own performances. It seems like it's working just as intended. Sorry about that.
