game crashes when season begins

Running the game on Windows XP-based system. I advance thru the pre-season without any problems but the game won't advance passed the day of the season's first game - it crashes every time. Cannot view, play or simuate the game, week, month, etc without crashing. Any suggestions?

Have you made any changes to any ballparks settings?

Does it happen with every game that you try to sim? If you can zip up the league folder, I can give you a place to send it to where I can look at it.

IM me when you have it zipped and I will give you instructions on how to get it to me.

I'm having the same problem that Troy McClure is having. I loaded Cubby Fans 2007 rosters that he updated in December, and ran a season off of his rosters. I got through the preseason alright with all teams able to make trades, sign FA's, etc.

But once I get to game one of the season, I cannot autoplay or simulate any games without the game crashing. I was able to play the first game of the season manually, but obviously I'm not going to play every game of the entire season manually for every team. I am set up as the GM of the Devil Rays.

Any help would be appreciated. I did make adjustments to the ballparks. I loaded my own jpg pictures (both day and night) of every current stadium in the majors, and then saved them to a folder and directed each team's stadium path to the proper file.

thanks in advance for your help. I really am excited to play this game, and was very disappointed to come across this problem.

Thanks for the reply Comedian. I have not made any changes to the ballpark settings. As far as it happening with every game I try to sim I can't get by the first day of the season which has only 1 game scheduled, so I don't know. My problem is exactly as Cats0404 explained in his post - I'm using the December update of Cubby Fans 2007 rosters, etc. I have zipped the league file. Let me know where you want me to send it and thanks for the help.

Since autoplay crashes every time and since I can play each game manually, When I play the first game of the season (same as McClure, there is only one game on the first day of the schedule, Detroit @ Minnesota), the Minnesota pitching staff walks every hitter. Johan Santana starts, and proceeds to walk every batter he faces. I can quick play to the end of an inning, but Minnesota uses their entire staff to get out of the inning, giving up so many walks that the score going into the bottom of the 1st is 102-0, all off walks. Somehow the pitching staff was able to mix in three strikeouts over the course of the inning.

Not sure if this is why the game is crashing (game engine overwhelmed by so many walks?).

Thank you Comedian for your help. I would be happy to zip my league, but not being computer savvy, I would probably need detailed instructions on how to do so. Thanks again.

You may have solved the problem.

The crash happens in autosim because of the runs scored.

I would check the game settings. You must have something in there that is causing to to walk people. Check the game modifiers in the game setup.

Yep, that was it. I went into the game modifiers screen under game set up, and found that BB's was set WAY off. Under the league totals, in 167353 AB's, it was set to only 44 BB's, which I'm sure threw off the whole engine.

Now my only problem is that when I'm in the Sion Broadcast screen during a game, the score, balls/strikes/outs/mph is completely blank. So there's no way to tell the count, the outs, or what the score is. Any idea how i could solve this?

Thanks again for your help.

I am on a roll.

Locate the skins.bin file, delete it and then launch the game again.

Set the walks to 16000 and you should be fine.

Comedian - Right again. I deleted the skins.bin file and everything is fine now. You are definitely on a roll, thanks so much.

Billethius - Thanks for the tip on the BB totals. It's much better now.

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help out semi-newbies like myself. You don't need to, yet you choose to help out anyways. Thanks again, this game is fantastic.

Wow, nice to be away from the computer for a couple of hours then return and find all your problems solved! I had the same issue - 44 for BB's in the modifiers. Set to 16,000 and now running the game with no problems. Thanks guys.
