Loading Messages....FREEZE

My game has worked perfectly all this time.

Yesterday it started....

I click "continue game)...it gets to 87% completion ("loading messages") and it freezes.

it happens everytime....it is also happening with other leagues as well.

it happens with my backup league as well.

BTW...I run it on a PC...Windows XP...version 2.01 (patch installed)

Anyone? I tried moving the faces.dat file out...that didn't work.

Sometimes when my computer crashes while the game is on, it will totally corrupt an individual league, but I've never had it mess up other leagues. And mine crashes at the 100%, finalizing stage.

I'd back up the leagues and reinstall the game. Sounds like it's that level corruption.

I would try moving the content of the MESSAGES folder to a backup location and then trying to load the league. Maybe there is some corruption in one of the txt files.

I would also check your hard drive for errors.

Okay...

Moving the contents of the Message folder elsewhere....DOESN'T WORK.

I tried this....I moved the messade.dat file elsewhere...and BOOM...the league does boot up....

It then crashes when trying to simulate one day.

Upon further investigation..I see that the Athletics seemed to have really improved their pitching staff by adding King Felix, Justin Verlander, and Gil Meche.

They also added Chad Tracy, and Deavid Eckstein.

Now, that would be great work by a diligent GM...problem is that I run the A's..and I didn;t add all those players....

So...are we talking about a totally corrupt league here? Am I screwed?

It does not look good, but if you want, you can zip up the league file (less the photos) and get it to me and I can take a look at it. I saved two last week, so I am on a roll.

Woah... that is some crazy stuff there. I have never seen something like this. Did it possibly crash during the last save, did the power go out or something? Did you do something in the league structure? Anything, any changes?

I bring up Oakland and I see Chad Tracy on the team. You said he was not on your team. When I click on his name, instead of bringing up Chad, it brings up Dallas McPherson of Tampa. I go to Tampa's team and there is no one named Dallas on that team. So, I search for McPherson and it shows him, so I click on his name, and it brings up Zack Grienke who is on the Rockies. But when I go to the editor, it shows Zack not on any teams.

I did a CSV dump and looked at the players.csv file. Players 1 to 21 are listed as joe nobody. This is a sign of a corrupt database.

Bottom line is that the league is corrupt, sorry to tell you.

Is there anything that you can think of that may have caused this. Any changes you made in the game the last time you played it?

I did nothing.

I just started the game one day and it would stop on 87% loading....

All I did after that was move the message.dat file elsewhere...and the league would load.

It then crahsed when trying to autoplay one day.

Sounds like lack of resources during the save process. That would screw up the whole game file, for sure.
