Interface lag/response issues

My apologies if this shows up twice, but I seem to be having forum issues...

I suppose this may not really be a bug so much as it is a request for suggestions -

I experience some substantial interface lags - especially after I play for a while. It improves somewhat, for a short period of time, if I quit then re-enter the game -- but always comes back with a vengeance.

It's manifested by multi-second (5-6-7-8-9-10) delays in clicks, stuttery/slow mouse pointer movement, issue with drag and drop, etc. For example - I'll 'grab' a player, but need to hover over for a relatively substantial period of time - then 'hold' the mouse button, wait more, then verify the proper player is selected, then very carefully drag and drop. The same happens when switching views, tabs, accessing drop-downs -- the whole interface basically. Am I just too used the quick interface response from OOTP6.5 and prior - and this is just something to live with in the SI interface? I had similar issues in OOTP2006, but they didn't seem nearly as severe. In other words - it's very difficult to control when playing as a GM (simming weeks at a time and just managing roster, etc).

My specs would appear fine…
Windows XP, patched to date
Pentium IV 1.7 gHz
768 meg RAM
> 12 gigs free hard drive space
My video card is from the GeForce 6000 series (6200, I believe - at work so I'd have to check)
I play in 1024X780 on a flat screen monitor
I doubt it matters, but my mouse is a MS wireless "Intellimouse".

I also disable all other non-essential processes -- I do run a memory leak recovery program called Cacheman.

Any suggestions on settings - either OOTP internal or PC/display settings -- or other actions I might be able to take to improve this?

I hate to whine - but the interface really becomes almost too cumbersome to use when I hit these 'dead spots' in gameplay.

I have the same problem, on a Mac; after playing for a while, everything gradually slows down (sim speeds, speed for SISA to scout a league at the end of a season, play by play text speed, etc), and the drag and drop gets slow and awkward. I've found, however, that if I go to OOTP Preferences in the Game menu, and click 'ok' (I don't need to change anything), I immediately get back to the same hyperspeed performance as when I first launch the game. No idea if this will help you on your machine, but give it a shot.

Are you guys still seeing this behavior after patching the game to the full version of patch 2?
