Can't get to Preseason

The situation:
I created a template from a universe that began in 2007. I started a new game based on that template but set it to begin in 1930. As you can see in the screen shot, it appears that I cannot reach the pre-season (to import a new schedule, or even generate a new one) until 2008. This is problematic. The other leagues in this universe seem to be OK. I can sim until the middle of February, or whatever, and load a new schedule, but for this particular league, I can't make it to the preseason. Simming for a year in this universe had this league playing no games.

Any thoughts or helpful hints are much appreciated.
Thanks!
CB

From the screen shot it appears that you could click generate a fictional schedule for this league. Are you saying that won't work? I would try that first.

Another potential problem I see is that the league date is 1930 and your sim options seem to be 2007 and 2008. That doesn't bode well. Something's up. And as bp_ suggests, it appears schedule related. What happens when you click Generate Fictional Schedule?

Yes, that is what caught my eye at the beginning. Generating a fictional schedule works for 3 of the leagues, but it never puts them into the preseason. I can't import a schedule for any of them now.

I am going to have to start from scratch, I guess. A very painful process, with some 200 teams to set up.

I've tried re-creating games from this template a couple of times now, and it seems that the database is corrupt. The game has been crashing on creation, and won't load that world after a crash- saying that the database is corrupt.

What are my options at this point? Make another template from that first world? Scratch?

Alright, here goes...

First off, there's definitely a problem here. When creating a new game from a template that was saved in an ongoing league (as opposed to during a Create New Game dialog), the annual events from the template aren't reset to the year that the new game is created in.

Anyway, I hope you still have the league from which you saved that template. The main thing standing in the way of a workaround is that you apparently saved the template during the off-season. Try advancing that game to the first day of the pre-season, then save the template. In my tests, when a "pre-season template" is used for a new game, the game dumps you into the pre-season (even though it'll be Jan 1 in the new game all the same) and you'll be able to regenerate the schedule, at which point you'll get a schedule for the correct year.

The events dropdown list will still look a bit funky, but the game will advance properly to the regular season and post-season, and by the time the next off-season rolls around everything should look okay (or at least it did in my tests just now).

Well, gents...I'm hosed. The database for the original league appears to be corrupt. I'm going to start from scratch. Thanks for your help.
