Crash Out Of Screensaver

My screen saver kicked in during the 7th inning of a game. The game crashed when I returned a few minutes later.

I have patched up, and this was my first season with the new patch.
The file was previously started with the 2.0 version, and patched up around May or June of the 2008 season. It is a single player league. I'm the manager of the Chicago Cubs.

1. What, specifically, were you doing when the problem occurred? Include the specific screen you were on when the problem occurred.

In game, the broadcast screen with the stadium picture. Full screen mode.

2. What happened? Was there an error message? If so, what was the specific message?

While in game, my screen saver popped up, as I had stepped away from the game for a moment.

When I returned, I received a pop-up error message stating:
ERROR: 0001
Unable to open screen mode
with an 'ok' button to click

When I clicked that it states, "application unable to continue" and promptly closes, losing all unsaved data.

3. Were you able to repeat the error with this same game? With another game? If so, what steps did you take?

Yes, I have found that at any time that my screen saver comes on while I step away from the game, specifically only while in Full Screen mode, I receive the same error message and a crash. I tried two other times, one on the homepage for the Cubs, and the other was on the main schedule page, both crashes.

4. What is your league configuration (fictional/historical, etc.)
Darkcloud's 2007 roster file. Currently in the 2008 season, Sept.

5. Are you a Mac or PC user?
PC User
Dell Dimension 8250
WindowsXP
pent 4/2.4 ghz
1gb ram

1280X1024
32bit color
Dell 1900FP (analog) on Radeon 9700pro

screen saver = 3D text every 7 minutes

Instead of full screen mode can you play in windowed mode with one of the wider resolutions? That might solve the problem while still giving you a larger game screen.

Just to help a little further, you can change the screen to windowed mode from the preferences screen. Of course if you like you can right click on your desktop and prolong the time for the screen saver to enable

Nice graphics card btw !

thanks - yeah, I usually only play in windowed mode and never have any issues whatsoever.
I thought this might be a known bug but did not seem to see it anywhere - so I threw it up.

I'll definitely stick with the windowed mode from now on, as I actually like it better anyway. Or I'll just deactivate the screen-saver.
_____________

The game crashed in the middle of the 7th inning, I had a 1 run lead with Zambrano on the hill...game number 162....three way tie with the Cardinals & Brewers for the division title. Both of their games were tied in the 4th inning.
Just a historic pennant race as both the Brewers & Cubs closed a 10 game gap over the final two months as Rolen & Pujols both were both lost to injuries.
Then the Cubs loaded the bases in their real-world game on FOX, so I had to get up and watch Derek Lee hit a pinch hit grand slam homer on the TV. Which was of course wonderful.

But then I came back to a game crash and having to redo the season from game #105. Most devastating crash ever for me. My fault I didn't backup.

(just ordered a brand new system with a 8800GTX! can't wait)
