Thumbs down I've had it

That's it. I've had it with this game. After downloading the TWO most recent patches, the game now will not even open on my Mac.

I double click on it, there's a quick flash, then nothing, back to the desktop.

This absolutely should not happen. At least with the last patch, the game would open but a black screen would be all I saw.

Please help.

If this was a PC it sounds very much like a video card driver issue.

Does such things happen on Macs?

Not to my knowledge. I've never been asked to download any drivers for anything for my Mac. I think it's part of their whole sales pitch.

The game ran without a hitch for me before I downloaded these last two patches. I haven't been able to run it in two weeks.

It sounds like you've applied the patches incorrectly. Where are your files/folders right now? On my mac I have the OOTP2007 application and a data folder side by side in a GAMES folder. What's your folder setup like?

I have it side by side but it's in the Applications folder. It never gave me any problems before.

I had what might be the same problem on my Mac; when I first applied the patch, I only pointed to the Applications folder for the install. The patcher made a new OOTP 2007 folder, which contained an icon that looked exactly like a copy of the game program. When I'd click to open it, I'd get a flash on the screen and then it would go back to the desktop. I did still have the unpatched version of the game on my hard drive as well, so looking in my file system, it appeared I had two versions of OOTP 2007, but only one worked (and was unpatched).

When patching, I had to point directly to my game folder to patch; otherwise the installer didn't find my game. I hope this is the issue, because it's easy to fix! Good luck.

Unfortunately, no, there's no disconnect between my folders, all of the data always went into the same one, so I'm still unable to get this game to open.

This is extremely irritating. I've bought the last five versions of this game and still feel as through I am not getting a finished, working product.

Sigh.

pedersenk,
I feel your pain.
I had the same problem on my G4 MDD after dl the new patch to correct folder, etc.

I reinstalled OOTP 2007 v 2.0.1, copied my data file and launched the game. Game said it updated 919 files - OOTP 2007 startup screen shows v2.0.1.43.
Not sure if anything got patched ????

When I patched I had a similar problem. The first time I tried to patch I just followed the "path" that was defaulted. It didn't work. The second time I tried I had to change the path and redirect the patch to the folder that physically had the application. That worked. I got the window that said that files had been updated.

But since you're saying that you're having problems with the last 2 patches my guess is that your "first patch" is screwed up so the second one won't fix it anyway. I would consider re-downloading the full application.

Right. Pedersenk, could you try reinstalling your game? Something strange must have happened during installation of the patches.

There was a post over in the patch thread of a user with the same problem. He did a fresh reinstall of the game, then applied the patch, and all was good.

here's the thread: OOTP Baseball 2007 - Patch 2.0.2 now released

Now, I have a mac. I beta tested on a mac, and I have not ever had this problem in the numerous times i have patched. But, I always install it do the default locationi in the applications folder. Is it possible that all of you that are experiencing this problem have the game in a "custom" location, and not setting that "custom" location when patching? Or, have some of you installed the game with complete defaults and are still seeing this issue?

I just checked mine, which is in a non-standard place (Games, within Home), and it worked perfectly.

Like Robster, I've never had a problem patching this game. I'm still back on Panther (10.3.9), and I was wondering if that had anything to do with it.

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

Since we haven't heard anything on this thread in a week, it will now be closed. If you need any further help with it, all you have to do is ask a moderator to re-open the thread and we will continue to try to troubleshoot your issue. Thanks.
