Corrupted Archive Error

In my online league, http://www.theislleague.com my owners have been trying to download the league file from both the website and within the game. Both times they have gotten a "corrupted archive or wrong version" error. We are all running the same patch (most up to date). Any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou

Perhaps the file wasn't fully uploaded. Could you try uploading it again and having them attempt to download it once more?

That's a head scratcher. I just DLed your league file from your web site and was able to open it up in the game without issue, so your league file works fine in OOTP 2007 version 2.0.2

Suggestions:
1. Make sure they have the latest OOTP patch installed.
2. Make sure that if they are downloading the file from your website (not from within the game) they are unzipping/untarring the file into the correct league folder.

EG: They should unzip that file into C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\ISL.lg [replace "owner" in this path with their user login name if they use a XP login name on their PC].

make sure they are using WinRAR and not WinZIP.

Also, make sure that IE didn't rename the league file. Especially if they are using IE 6. I've seen it happen before. The league file should be yourleague.lg.tar.gz if the game created the archive. If it doesn't look like that, WinRar won't be able to extract it.

I am currently in a league that is having this specific problem as well. I'll be very curious to know how it is solved as the league is falling apart because of it unfortunately.

I would suggest that you try to have people delete their old version of the league file, download the full file, extract the .rar with WINRAR, then update in game. I think that should be your first step with everyone having problems. Make sure they get a new file to start with, make sure the file name is right, make sure that when they extract they don't have two .lg folders (one inside the other, can happen depend on what extraction option you use and how it was zipped up) and make sure the file folder ends in .lg. If problems still remain let us know.

I've suggested that our commissioner send you guys the league file. In the link to our forum you can see our discussion. I was not having any problems myself, but started from scratch again anyway to see what was going on, and we do indeed appear to have a corrupt league file now; one that cannot be extracted by anything.

Here's a question for your Commissioner: how is he uploading the league file? Is he doing it through OOTP? Or is he using a third-party FTP client? If he's using a third-party FTP program (e.g. FileZilla), make sure the file transfer type is set to Binary, not ASCII. Using the wrong data type for the upload would definitely corrupt the file.

Of course, if he's letting OOTP upload the file for itself, then that's not the problem (because OOTP obviously knows how to handle its own files ).

Also, you can tell the people who have had their own leagues "corrupted" by trying to DL the current file in-game that they can "fix" it (at least, get back the working copy of the league they had before) by going into their league folder, and renaming any files that end in *.bak to *.dat instead. For any file that has both a .dat and a .bak version, delete the .dat and rename the .bak to take its place.

(What's going on there is that as soon as OOTP finishes downloading a league file, all the league's .dat files are renamed to .bak files as a backup. With your corrupted league file, new .dat files aren't being extracted to take their place, so OOTP thinks the league is corrupt because of a bunch of the .dat files seem to be missing. So "restoring" the old versions will get their leagues up and running again)

I'm the commish of the league pbar25 is talking about and I'm doing all the importing and exporting in game using the commish portal. I'll keep you updated as I'm uploading a new file as we speak.
