Disappearing Ratings?

I've seen this issue discussed on a few other threads but haven't been able to nail down an answer or even if a TT has been opened on this.

My starting LF started the season with a 7 (out of 10) defensive rating. In addition he had ratings for CF and RF. 16 games into the season he has lost ALL his ratings. The screen is just blank. In the editor it shows that he has 200 points (max) in experience for two positions and 49 in the third position. He is 36 years old so I can understand losing a little, but all?!

The same situation with my backup 2B. He started the season with a 4 defensive rating but is now blank as well.

Editing the experience numbers doesn't do anything.

Any ideas? Thanks.

It looks to me that his error rating has fallen below the minimum threshold required to have a fielding rating in the outfield. I found this thread, which is interesting:

It's about OOTP 2006, but I'd guess the situation in the current game is similar. In any event, even without a rating your guy will still play an adequate left field- his range is ok, and he has experience. He'll just make a lot of errors (and it doesn't look like he'll throw many people out either). I'd be a little more careful about playing that 2B, however...

Injury Log is right. The guy can still play the position if you want him to, but his ratings have degraded to the point where the game recommends that you don't play him there. Experience is only part of the puzzle.

Your 2B undoubtedly has a similar problem. One of his basic IF ratings dropped below the minimum threshold to adequately play that position.

As this is planned and expected behavior, I am now going to close this thread.
