Freezing Problem

I've been having a "freezing"/error problem when exiting the game. It
happens a lot. Luckily I save a lot and don't lose much data. For the
1st time, the other day I "froze" while saving faces. The game
wouldn't load after that point while loading faces. Luckily again, I backup
my game every so often and just copied the faces.dat to the current
folder and it worked. Any reason why it errors on the save?

FYI..My game is 1 league with minors on a brand new laptop with a ton
of space on the hard drive.

1 Gb should be plenty, so that kills the idea I had percolating. The only other thing I can mention is that bumping is discouraged in this (Tech Support) section of the forum because the official procedure is to look at the oldest threads first. By bumping we keep the thread new and MIGHT be delaying getting it looked at by someone who knows what they're doing.

Charlie,

I'd try this:

1. Close OOTP

2. Back up your entire league folder (just because I always recommend that before anything else)

3. Rename the faces.dat file to faces.old

4. Restart the game. Quit the game, and see if it behaves a little more kindly upon saving.

Thanks Steve.. It's not only on the faces though. It's says closing database and then errors.

What kind of video card do you have? Try disabling facegen and see if it runs smoothly.
