Day -to-Day injuries

playing the 2007 season and i control all roster moves, and let the AI do the line-ups and in-game features. Jermaine Dye suffered a day to day injury April 2nd and was expected to be out 6 days,(bruised hip) but the next day the teams played he was in the line-up, does the AI not recognize that he is day to day , or do I have to manually do that?...if so I can i go about doing that, and keep from this happening again?

I can't attest to v2007's treatment with confidence, but in my experience with it and with previous versions, it is not uncommon to have a dtd ready some days and not others over the period's duration. Some have preferred that a dtd not play as they believe it increases the chances of the injury becoming one more serious or that the player is simply more injury-prone during the dtd status.

I believe the program defaults to putting the DTD player in the lineup. As far as I know the only way to substitute him is on the starting lineup screen manually.

DtD's don't mean they can't play, only that their skills are reduced by whatever % shows on their profile. Personally, even though I don't remember seeing it written anywhere, I never use DtD players because I feel it increases their chance of getting injured more seriously. Maybe someone can say if that is programmed into the game.

To clarify, what I've seen in the past is times the dtd is not in the lineup and his status clearly indicates dtd. In other cases, during his dtd duration, he is in the lineup and his status indicates OK or Normal. In cases like the bruised hip, etc... I've always just interpreted this as "it's not bothering him today." I believe you're correct though, that there may indeed be some reduction in an ability or rating while playing during this period. I'd wager that'd be difficult to measure, but of course easy to blame if something went awry.

Edit: I'm sure we'll soon get a "this is from the manual" post from 1998Yankees that'll shed a bit more light on it.

I believe the performance % decrease is listed on their profile page when not into a game, but I don't know if it shows there while in a game or in a lineup screen.

I want to say it did in 6.5<, but not in any of the SI iterations.

Here's a screen shot from 2007. Performance lost is right there.

Right, but what I was replying to was your comment that it might not show when he is in the lineup or in a game. I don't think it does.

Ok. I misunderstood. That guy isn't on my team so I have no way of checking it while in a game tho I reckon it won't be long before I can. My dudes have had more than their share of day to days this season.

Found a display, Styx. Playing tonight, I remembered the opponent's 2B was taken out of yesterday's game with a dtd injury, but was playing today. Here's his screenshot in-game:

I did know some info about players was not available while in a game that I wish was. I wasn't sure about that, but now that I see it missing, I wish it were there

Not down in Tech Support you won't. That boy don't come 'round these parts. (And more's the pity.)

Sounds like you're making a feature request for 2008. (hint)

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

Actually I am satisfied with 2007. Unless something comes along that completely blows me out of the water, and to this point I haven't seen anything like that being suggested, I wasn't planning on buying any future versions.
