Minor league Manager promotion

Doesn't seem to be working for me. The only place I can promote minor league staff is within the same minor league team or to the big league team. So I can't promote any of my staff thruout my organization? Should this be working or is my game just bugged?

It's not only your game- that's something that doesn't work as well as it should. The only way to promote a coach is to first promote him to the Majors, then demote him to the minor league level you want him to be at. That can be a problem, because he might refuse the demotion, leaving you with a bad coach in the Majors.

One thing to consider: it's not always a good idea to have your best minor league coaches at the highest levels of the minors. I'd think it better to have your best coaches at the same level as your best prospects, which, in some seasons, might be rookie ball, sometimes A-ball, etc. In my mind, it all evens out, so I leave the coaches where they are, if I play with coaches at all.

Good point,

I normally keep a few good managers in the low ball teams as well. Do you know if they're going to fix the promotion thing?

I very much doubt this would be changed in a patch this year, but it has been suggested for next year's game, so perhaps in 2008...

This was actually a change that first appeared (as I recall) in the final patch to 2006. Prior to that it worked as we all expect it to. The fact that it didn't get changed back with 2007… worries me. It's possible that it was intentional.
