Game gets stuck "Loading Faces"

I was trying to sim a few seasons using Icy's Template as a starting base for creating a league that began in 1998. Everything went fine for the first 3 seasons, then in the 2000 offseason (I'm not sure exactly when, I wasn't at the computer) the game crashed to desktop.

When I tried to restart the game (and I've tried by both loading save game and continuing game) it gets stuck loading at 93% - when it is loading faces.

Now this part is merely just venting, but boy this has been frustrating. I finally tired of waiting for "real" rosters so I decided to try a fictional league (using real MLB structure)...and the game keeps crashing on me (I have another post on here from last night related to another failed attempt to start a league). I've bought every version of OOTP since OOTP3, but the last two years have been so frustrating because I can see the amazing promise of the direction that this game has been taken in but so far I have failed miserably in all my attempts to execute upon it.

Miadchi,

I'm sorry for your frustration.

I'd try this:

1. Close OOTP

2. Back up your entire league folder (just because I always recommend that before anything else)

3. Rename the faces.dat file to faces.old

4. Restart the game and see how it goes!
