Patch problem

My 2007 has worked fine since the spring.

Then I dwnld'd the new patch; got the dreaded "error...must close down..." msg; now the game won't load; get 93% loaded on old league then it just stops

I guess I'll have to delete the whole thing and start again...unless someone has a fix

When did you get the error message? During the update? If so, then yes, you'll want to delete your game and reinstall. You shouldn't have to get rid of your saved game, however.

If you didn't get the error message during the update, do other leagues work without crashing?

Got the error msg as I was closing it down after installing the patch (and playing for a while). Parenthetically, the game seemed to have slowed down a lot.

Error while closing down a saved game? That's generally a bad sign.

I would suggest that you uninstall OOTP 2007 and reinstall it and the patch to see if it helps. If you have any .bak files in your saved game folder, you could rename them to the corresponding .dat files, but that would only restore your saved game to the point of your last backup.

Do other leagues work just fine?

The same thing happened to me while closing the game. It happens to me after the amateur draft in the spring. The game crashes during the saving faces part and when I try to load the game back up it gets stuck at the loading faces part. I has happened twice, after the first time I went back to a previous save and it was fine until the draft. I have the third patch installed. I have not had this problem before this patch. I am in the 7th year of my league.

I'm not quite sure, in your scenario, you have the opportunity to try this; in a similar problem I faced, I disabled FaceGen, ran the game, enabled FaceGen after a few days' games, then it saved - and recovered - with no problem. I realize the situations are not identical, but if you can get to the opening screen options and try this, it may be worth the effort.

What I did was reinstalled the game and disabled the face gen option. Upon restarting the game and loading my dynasty, it still gets stuck on loading faces at 93%. It was a good idea, but unfortunately did not work.

As the original poster did not respond to this thread in some time, this thread will be closed for housekeeping reasons.

Vopat, if your faces.dat file was empty, you could delete it and continue your league, albeit with a new set of faces generated.
