OOTP 8: Mac Installation

So how exactly am I supposed to get this thing to install in the Applications folder? When I try to browse for the Applications folder from the installer, it doesn't list it under my home directory.

The installer for Mac is dreadful. I sure hope it doesn't stay this way for OOTP 9.

Alright, so here's what happened.

I installed the game in the OOTP 8 Install folder that my downloads folder. Then I moved the OOTP 8 Install folder to my Applications folder and started the game. The registration screen came up. So I filled that out and got my receipt emailed to me. The game tried to start but didn't do anything. I didn't get the main screen or anything. So I tried opening it again and the same thing happened. The game icon came up in the dock but I never saw any screens. So I decided to delete the game an install it again. I didn't get the registration screen again but the game never opened either. Same problem as before.

So I decided to try installing it in my Downloads folder and running the game from there. Same problem.

Clearly, something isn't getting uninstalled when I just delete the files. But I have no idea where to look for the files that need to be deleted. Any tips?

Okay, I just installed it in a folder on my desktop and I'm able to get the game started. So then I moved folder from my desktop to the Applications folder and things seem to be working fine. Weird. Still, I'm not real thrilled with the installer for this version.

Are other people experiencing this sort of problem? Does it need to be brought to someone's attention?
