Minor League Team With No Games Played

I started a season from the mlb quickstart option, and was managing an A level team with no problems. However, mid-season I changed to a AAA team only to find out that they hadn't played a game all season....The team was the Iowa Cubs, and this was during the first season of the game (2007).

Did any other teams in their league play a game? Is their schedule empty?

Yes, the rest of the teams had games as regular, I assume the schedule was just created without the Iowa Cubs altogether.

I just tried starting a new season from scratch and they still aren't playing any games so it might be a problem with the mlb quickstart template.

I just tested this out by starting a league on the Iowa Cubs and there were no scheduled games for the team. When I tried to create a fictional schedule in the league settings I got an error.

The problem is that the Iowa games have been scheduled as being Las Vegas games. I've tried to see if it's possible to work out which of the games for LV need to be moved to Iowa but it's not easy.

Hmm...interesting. But that still doesn't explain why I get an error when I try to create a fictional schedule, does it?

If you could, please list the league size and alignment and the basic details of the schedule you were trying to create (e.g. balanced or not, interleague play or not).

I was just using the 'create fictional schedule' button for the existing MLB AAA league that is default for the MLB quickstart.

Still need those details though, please.

The MLB Quickstart should, if I recall correctly, already have the real schedules for the minor leagues it includes.

There's no interleague play, and it's not balanced. There are 8 teams altogether, split into two divisions, just like it should be. The schedule generation works for all other leagues i've tried, just not the AAA PCL...

I also tried starting a new MLB game, and let it play out for over a year, and even in the next season there are no games scheduled for the Iowa Cubs.

You can try importing a schedule file for your AAA league. There should be a few available for an 8-team league split into two 4-team divisons. You could use the schedules for the Texas League or Carolina League, both of those have the proper alignment and play 140-game seasons. The former is divisionally weighed while the latter is a balanced schedule.

When importing a schedule file, make sure the options chosen under the schedule section of the Options tab under League Options matches that specified in the schedule file. These are: 1) number of games played; 2) whether the schedule is balanced or not; and 3) whether there is interleague play or not. Be sure to only change your schedule during the off-season or pre-season part of the game.

If you enable the Auto adjust date if matching XML schedule is found option, that will automatically adust the starting dates for the league in the game to match the dates specifed in the schedule file. You should also enable the Force Start on Certain Weekday option to keep the schedule starting on the correct relative day of the week each season.

If the schedule file specifies an All-Star Game date, then to use that enable the Hold All-Star Game option but leave unchecked the box for Automatically Schedule All-Star Game. The latter option is intended for schedules files which do not have an All-Star Game specified in them.
