Thumbs down 3 hours trying to solve this

I keep getting the error message

ootp8.exe - Fatal Application Exit
Unable to open the user data folder! Please reinstall Out of the Park Baseball

I have searched your forums and found no fix, including what is suggested here
ootp8.exe - Fatal Application Exit
Where the directions are incorrect because
a) The folder specified is incorrect (although corrected later)
b) There is no config folder....so I can't even determine if there is meant to be a config folder or a path file

I also double checked with these instructions
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar....php?p=2113396
and still, there is no config folder!

I've spent best part of 3 hours trying to get your demo to run to determine whether to buy this or not.

I have Windows 2000 and the machine is networked, so my data folder was installed on a network drive. I copied them to a local folder, but I still cannot run the game because I cannot find the config folder the thread talks about and, being as that is missing, so is the path folder!

So...is there a trick to getting this game installed and running. It's great that you've provided a demo...in this day and age, that is to be commended, but seriously....out of the 100 turns you allow me to load the demo, the idea surely is to let me play it?

I'd appreciate any help offered.

In the past, when people were trying to run older versions using Win2k, they said installing Windows Media Player mysteriously solved their problem.

Maybe try that.

First off I don't know anything about Windows 2000 or network drives. However on WinXP the config folder is found at;

C:\documents and settings\"your user name"\Application Data\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8\Data\config

In that folder the "paths" file needs to point to the data folder such as;

Quote:
path_user_data
D:\RWStuff\Baseball\OOTP Baseball 2007\data
If I do a global search for the word config in my file manager it gives me the folders I need.

Hope this helps?
