Debug not working...I can't proof PBP or News Stories

I did a search and got no replies.

I can't get the Debug to work in the game confnig file to proof the news stories and PBP.

I went into the Game Preference > opened Config Folder > Clicked app file > select Notepad to read it > put 1 in the "add debug" > closed it and said yes to changes > closed out the config file > clicked OK in the Game Preferences.

I then closed out the game, so that the changes would take place.

I opened the game again and went back to the config file.

The 1 was now back to 0 in the "add debug".

What did I do wrong?

Try either not saving changes in-game after editing the file (i.e. clicking OK) or try editing the file while the game is closed.

Edit: I tried it out and editing the file while the game is closed worked just fine. Editing it while the game was open didn't work, likely because the settings used when the game closed overwrote the file.

How do you get to the config file with the game closed?

I used to know how to do it before they put it inside the game.

I know to do a search for it, but I will need the path.

So what you are saying is that we cannot use the Game Preferences to access the config file?

Eugene,

C:\documents and settings\"your user name"\Application Data\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8\Data\config

If you are on v2007 then substitute Sports Interactive and OOTP 2007 where necessary.

Either that, or just use the game to open up the folder, then close the game without closing the folder. You can use the game to access the folder, but it looks like the game needs to be closed for you to edit the file properly.

I saw that you started another thread on this, but are you all set on this one now, EC?

Problem solved.

I had to put "owner" in the path for "your user name".

My wife figured it out for me.

It is always much appreciated.

It is a shame that the game won't let you make the change in the Game Preferences. That sure would be an easier process. But it will apparently not keep the changes you make.
