Cannot hire coaches/scouts

Running most recent version of ootp8 (8.0.0.13), and fired one of my coaches as I saw a few better ones on the staff search list. However, when I right click on the unemployed coach I want to hire I do not get an "offer contract" option. I thought perhaps I couldn't do this at a certain time of year, but after limping along without a hitting coach for ten months, I still can't hire a new coach.

I actually came to this board with the same exact issue. I cannot hire new (better) coaches and scouts... What's weird is I COULD with my first few dynasties, but with my new one I cannot.

Is there an option somewhere I have forgotten to enable/disable?

What type of league are you guys playing in? Fictional or a user-created MLB roster? I'm assuming solo and not on-line leagues?
