ghost/remnants player issue

team A traded player X to team B during the off-season.

clicking on the player shows him to be correctly on team B's minor league team.

but here is the beef:

his 'ghost' is still hogging up a spot on the roster of team A.

he is still not shown to be on the roster of team B, so there is not a duplicate player.

from the transaction ability of team A, nothing is available.

from team B, you can do transactions involving the player, but they do not affect the team A situation. i have even tried to retire the player out of desperation, to no avail. he still is on the roster of team A.

the player himself *is* affected by the transactions.

so, the only strange thing is that the player appears to take a spot on the roster of team A. on the transaction screen of team A it does correctly show the player on the other team's roster. very strange.

i cannot recall, but this trade might've had something odd happen, and i might've had to go in and use the editor to change teams correctly. even then, doing this now to re-verify the correct team/roster has no affect on the problem.

i apologize if this is answered elsewhere, but i had no luck finding anything similar on a search.

thank you.

Which version of the game are you using? Is this a solo or on-line league? Was this league created using a roster set? Is it a fictional or historical league?

Editing the player initially may have caused the issue.

2007, with the final patch.
online league.
fictional league with no roster set.

if i did create this issue, then i am really hoping there is some way to rectify, even if i have to edit a file and delete all references to this player. a nuclear option is better than no option at all.

Does it look like this issue here?

Player on two 40-Man Rosters

I'm going to point redsoxford in the direction of this thead.

Fixed teams.dat sent to yajeflow. Awaiting confirmation that it has sorted the problem.

i'm not sure exactly what he did, but redsoxford was able to fix this issue after sending him the RIBC 'teams.dat' file. everything is perfect now, and my whole league is grateful.

my only question is if this is simple enough for a layman to do, so we all don't take advantage of your time, redsoxford? i know that i would feel absolutely terrible if i ever must ask for your assistance again on the same issue. plus, i wouldn't mind being able to help out someone else if they run across it and you are AFK.

thank you very much,

yajeflow

It involves finding the relevant player id in one of the four roster lists for the old team and blanking it. I could try and make a front end for it.

As long as I have the old team id and player id it doesn't take me more than a couple of minutes with the teams.dat to fix it.

And you don't need to feel terrible if it happens again.
