FaceGen not initialized

I just bought OOTP8 and created a fictional league. There are no player or manager faces, and in the game preferences screen it says "FaceGen not initialized."

I must be missing something...but I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am running Win XP.

How do you initialize FaceGen?

Same here, I posted this in the discussion forums yesterday and no response. It initializes when installing the vanilla version and even 1.02 patch, but, as soon as I install the 1.03 patch all those selection boxes where you would pick the faces you want go black and read FaceGen not initilized and all my faces are gone. Apparently the final patch is bugged where FaceGen is concerned and it wipes out any faces you had and turns off FaceGen and you can't even modify your team logos and colors on that page either.

When you start up OOTP before you load a game are you able to go into preferences and set the FaceGen mode. There should be four options On, Off, Debug 1 and Debug 2. If it's set to Off, make it On and try again, if it's On, try Debug 1 or Debug 2 to see if that makes it work.

Thank you for the help, Redsoxford.

I went to 'preferences' on the main screen and selected the FaceGen option "Troubleshooting mode 1." Then I quit the game and restarted it. Nothing.

Then I went back to 'preferences' and chose "Troubleshooting mode 2." When I restarted the game the faces were there, and I was able to also create a new manager's face.

Lol Same here, well that's weird why do WE have to use troubleshoot 2 and not the rest of everybody else? I have the latest drivers for my Nvidia card? Well, at least it works so that's all that matters I suppose. Now, to go and play and discover all the crashes that I been hearing have been happening to everyone. lol 2007 model wasn't as stable as 6.5 I hope 09 is more stable, but, I'm going to wait to buy it and read some comments and reviews.

Yup it's working fine in troubleshoot 2 mode with patch 2.03 so I guess I is all set.

I also have a Nvidia card and as far as I know I have the latest drivers. I didn't have a Facegen problem with OOTP 2007, but if I remember correctly others did have a problem with it not initializing.

Like you said, though--at least it works now. I hope I don't encounter any of the crashes other people are having.

I did have a strange occurrance: my team has dark green jerseys, but one player (just one) had a shockingly bright green jersey. It was one of my original guys, not a free agent or somebody I traded for.

Strange. I got tired of looking at it so I traded him. He was lousy 3rd baseman anyway.
