No pitchers on active roster

Note: I searched the forum for a fix to this but while I found a couple mentions of the problem, I found no solution...

(I have OOTPB 2007, most recent patch.)

I just started the 2020 season in my solo league. The game stopped simming and I got this message: "Plano has no pitchers on the active roster!(25)". So I checked Plano, and indeed, somehow the AI let the team lose all their pitchers. The team is single-A, and it has 25 players on its roster (the max) but all are position players. The Short Season-A affiliate below it has only 3 players on its roster, out of a max 40.

The kicker is that there are about 500 available free agents, about half are pitchers.

Note: While writing this, it occurred to me the team may not have the money necessary to sign anyone. My hunch was correct. The organization spent money putting 25 position-players on the team but did not save any for pitching--and it let the SA affiliate lose all but 3 players. Hopefully this can be addressed in an upcoming OOTPB release.

* Edit: I joined in 2002 and this is only my 33rd post?

I hope you've managed to solve this problem, but if not, there are many ways you could get enough pitchers onto their roster. If you repeatedly have problems with incomplete rosters, you should probably enable 'Ghost players' in Game Setup. It may also be that you need to make your amateur draft longer, so that teams have enough players. And, from the Manager menu --> Options, you can enter Commissioner mode, which would allow you to sign pitchers for the team in question, or even change the positions of some of their batters so they become pitchers. If you need any help with any of this, let me know.
