Mac Version Help

I recently purchased the Mac Version of OOTP Baseball 2008. I have attempted to load the program after downloading and installing with zero success. The baseball logo bounces in my dock and the program begins to load, but nothing ever comes up. After about ten seconds, the program just shuts down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times without success and have disabled the FaceGen folder by renaming it, as well as changing the Facegen Code in the App Folder.

Here are the stats of my Mac, am I missing something?

Hardware Overview:

Machine Name: Mac
Machine Model: MacBook2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB21.00A5.B06
SMC Version: 1.17f0
Serial Number: W87230NNYA5
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled

Any ideas?

Thanks!

What version of OS X do you have? Also, does it say anything about OOTP in the console log? You can get to the console log by going to the Applications folder, then to Utilities, then to Console. Usually when a program crashes, there will be a reason as to why it's crashing in the console log.

Are you connected to a wireless network when you attempt to load the program? OOTP's licensing software needs a web connection, even if you've already bought the software. IIRC, if a connection isn't present, the game will load up some type of a prompt and then close depending on what you click. Not exactly what you describe, but similar.

Also, if you're running Tiger, bring up the "get info" box (command I) and make sure that the option to run via Rosetta is enabled. I just checked in Leopard, and that option is no longer present -- so I assume it's always on when it should be.

I don't have any options in the Info Box for Rosetta. I did a Spotlight search on the computer and nothing came up for Rosetta. Is this something I should/can download?

I'm sorry that I don't know how to help you, but I will say that there is no need for a windows emulator. I have virtually the same computer as you (macbook 2ghz intel core 2 duo) and find the game to be very very stable on it (I am using ootpb 2007, however). I'm sure once you get it figured out it will work fine. Good luck!

HPTMNotificationManager seems to be related to some HP driver software you have installed, and from the looks of things, it's crashing and bringing down OOTP with it. Do you have any HP printer software installed? I know that I cringe when I have to install HP scanner and printer software on my Mac because it sprays files all over my system. It doesn't play nice and keep to itself.

/Library/Managed Preferences/district25guest

Is this Mac part of a local network? I checked my Mac and it doesn't even have a /Library/Managed Preferences/ directory. I don't think this is the cause of your problem, but if you're on a network and have some sort of restrictions on your computer that interfere with OOTP, that might be related as well.

Thanks for the help. I am not on a network when I take the laptop home and it still doesn't work.

What should I do about the HP files? Uninstall? I don't know if I need the printer files or not.

hmm, I'm running OOTP 8 on a Macbook similar to yours, only difference is that I have Leopard.

The only time I've seen something like this is when your not connected to the internet when trying to use OOTP 8.

Try installing it to another directory other than the default, or manually enter the directory. I had this very same problem with OOTP 2007 and I'm struggling to remember what I did to remedy it, but try a custom installation path.
