Speed Question ...

I have just downloaded OOTP 8 within the last month. I have a AMD Athlon 64 processor with 2.01 GHz and 384 of RAM. I am well above the system requirements, however, OOTP 8 slows my computer to a crawl and each time I play it I have to re-boot the entire computer to get the computer moving fast again. What am I doing wrong? Anyway to speed up the system? I am not great on computers but am passable, but the game is not enjoyable when sims and system move this slow.

Any help would be appreciated.

384 MB of RAM? Well, it's more than the bare minimum requirements, but that means that you can't run particularly large universes well. What type of leagues are you running? Fictional, MLB, Historical? How much history do they have?

I'm running a fictional league. I need more RAM?

I don't know. It depends upon your settings. How many teams and leagues did you include in your saved game universe (including minor leagues and feeder leagues)? How many years has this universe been simmed since creation?

32 teams and I am in my first year. I haven't had a chance to use the reccomendations that you presented, I have been real busy over the last few days. I will try them soon and let you know how it affects the speed of the game. Thanks for your efforts!

What Operating System?
Windows XP? Vista? Mac?
If its XP or Vista 384 MB would barely get the machine up and running.
