Question for BETA Testers

Have you set up a beta online league and done things that are actually done in online leagues such as exports/imports, waivers, FA, extensions, etc etc.

Have all transactions done by owners worked in their exports?

With 2006, online league testing was, well, non existent, and we all know the problems faced by online leagues when they started up.

If no testing has been done, are there any plans to do so? Maybe get a volunteer Commish and 10 or 12 owners to run a league through the ropes. Fast sim and do lots of transactions for a couple of seasons to ensure things work as they should.

In short, yes. There is a beta online league and Markus is in it.

I'm not in the league but I read the forum and yes, they are actually playing in an online league. I believe they are doing a fast sim pace simming every night to ensure they hit all the areas.

Except for the bugs But as they find them they are being squashed.

Yes and yes. I'm in the beta testing league and everything seems to be going smoothly. We test ever aspect of the online experience. So far so good. Will be even better for release. When an issue is found it is fixed rather quickly. We also suggest things to add and what not. I wasn't part of the beta team for 2006 but the testing for 2007 is very focused. 2007 is going to be awesome for online leagues, you just wait and see.

AFAIK, there's two beta testing leagues. One is a smaller league that will continue beyond the beta period as a regular league. I believe the intent is to use this league for OOTP2008 beta testing as well. There's another larger league with MLB structure that sims every day. I've been in this second league. The league has been well organized, with specific aspects of testing submitted for each export. We're on our 2nd run through of all the features that we think an online league does. There have been hiccups along the way, but I haven't noticed any in the recent builds as my exports have worked. Transactions go through, scouting assignments, lineup changes, FA offers, etc. I can delete my personal messages and have them stay deleted. We've had both PC and mac users in this league, with exports working for both.

At this point, there is a daily sim. The good news is, no, not all transactions have worked, and the errors get turned in nightly to Markus. Once a new build comes, the bug is never seen again.

At this point, the errors are few and far between.

Just to put a number to it, there is a separate sub-forum in beta for online-related stuff. It has about 100 threads and over 1500 posts in it, and the vast majority of those posts are relevant to the topic at hand. (i.e. it's not like a smaller version of the off-topic forum)

FWIW.

My leagues didn't convert last year because of the issues, so I went into this from a pretty skeptical standpoint. But, I'm in both the bigger and the smaller league, and I feel much better about the online league capabilities this year as a result of all the testing that is going on.

I will say that Markus has addressed issues in the online beta test leagues with a sense of purpose. From the way he's responded to issues and suggestions, it's clear that he places a high priority on making online leagues happy.

I feel really comfortable having participated in the online side of testing and the beta league that not only has Markus fixed what needs to be fixed and continues to fix those items, he and the rest of the programming team has listened to our suggestions and implemented new features.

So the answer to your question in short is Yes, and we continue to work hard to make sure everything is as close to 100% as possible.

Definitely is. Probably the best feature added to online, at least to me.

So, when do we get the announcement for 2008?

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

Absolutely, there has been a daily sim that has found plenty of issues to whine about...and they all get fixed as fast as we whine!

We had problems with Mac users in our 2006 league this year, and I'm pretty confident that those will not be an issue in 2007 thanks to our testing.
