Arbitration

Can anyone tell me how this years version will handle arbitration? I didn't see anything about it on the changes list, so I was wondering is it the same as in OOTP2006 or has it been improved to model the MLB arbitration system in any way?

I don't believe it has, unfortunately. Otherwise, they would have made a bigger deal about it in the change list.

No, I decided against it because IMO that would add too much micro-management.

Arbitration figures have been tweaked though, and players can no longer get a paycut of more than 20%, like in real life.

The buzz from 18 months or so ago re: arb values surrounds an article written by Burger & Walters that Nate Silver summarizes here: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/ar...articleid=4368 & is discussed well here: http://www.law.northwestern.edu/jdmb...GameTheory.htm and nuanced a bit here: http://www.insidethebook.com/ee/inde...s/slave_wages/ .

Actually Markus, that's not always true. Not sure if these rules still apply, but for awhile at least a player who got an arbitration increase the previous year of 50%+ was exempted from the salary reduction provision. Also, if a free agent and his club agree to go to arbitration, the salary cut rules didn't apply there either.
